This is like a Scifi, Fantasy, Dystopian, with Hints of a fairy tale. The author says its Eco-Dystopian Faerie Tale. Its an amazing mash up whatever you call it! There's 3 POVs which I absolutely loved. Its incredible the amount of research Jesikah had to do for this story. 🤯 There is a ton of world building which I found interesting but some may find it a bit slow at times. But she's just really setting up two intricate worlds for the rest of series. 😁 There's some great extras in the back of the book! Translations for phrases and an awesome glossary. This story is SO funny!I loved Fillion right off the bat. I have a soft spot for his type 😏Lots of mystery! What's going on? Who can be trusted? Why is this happening? What's real? 🧐Leaf refers to his sister as "Hurricane Willow" at times. I get this way when I'm tired and hungry. 😂Willow/Oaklee is a feisty little thing LolIt's fun to see how the New Eden citizens react to technology. And I really love the brother and sister dynamics! (Having an older brother myself ) 💙Overall great read. Definitely recommend it if the above sounds like your style!.The narrator did a great job. This was my first audiobook by him. I was really impressed when he spoke a few phases in French and Japanese! He differentiates each character well. He reads at a slower pace for me so I upped the speed a bit. But don't let that deter you from the sample! He's fantastic..👉🏼 Some Quotes"How can you sleep at night using a word like 'trash'?" he threw out. "It's like a four-letter word to you hippies. "."I'm losing my mind," he muttered in the elevator while waiting for the door to open. "And now I'm talking to myself out loud like a homeless person.".Oaklee focused on the heady and intoxicating scent of citrus to ease her escalating emotions. She would not crash. She would not be destroyed. She would grab at anything during this fall and save herself from hitting bottom. Experience had taught her that the floor was merciless, and an unnecessary event. And she was sure she would not survive another crash.."Please don't ever forget me, Willow," he whispered. "I will never forget you. I hope one day that you'll become fond of trash."

Lots of cool elements, but too slow
Listened to the story on Audible. Narration is over the top; more theatrical than natural, but it was okay. The emotional variations weren’t completely there, but he did add an interesting element to the story.Cool premise with some interesting ideas. People living in a bio dome with little technology and little knowledge of the outside world; some science experiment type thing originating from LARPing (Live Action Role-Playing). Medieval-esque setting and lots of unknown things going on. People living outside the dome with lots of technology. City setting and an elitist attitude. So, we have the simple, modest life versus the technologically driven life; outside the dome, things are kind of jaded. All of that sounds super entertaining, but there’s just too much time spent on side story boring stuff. Things just moved too slowly; I wanted more excitement to the story. Without that excitement, I look to the characters to draw me in, but that didn’t quite work. Willow has grown up sheltered, so she’s naive and tends to act like a brat; pretty little princess. Not my favorite type of female character, but she does have a lot of opportunity for growth, so she may improve. Leaf, Willow’s older brother, is also the sheltered type; he felt a bit boring for me. Fillion hides behind a tough guy attitude; his rich boy, entitled upbringing and bad parents, has affected him. Despite his upbringing, he’s an okay guy. Willow and Leaf live in the dome and are in the dark about what is really going on until their father dies and leaves a clue. It leads them to meeting Fillion; who lives outside the dome and knows a lot more than those in the dome do, but he’s not exactly forthcoming with the truth. There’s some romance too; all of it sweet, but not enough to keep me fully engaged. So, lots of interesting elements to this story; just too slow. I still find myself wanting to see how these characters end up though, so I’ll check out the next one.

Stunning. Immersive. Beautifully written.
In one line. This book was absolutely stunning and satisfying to read.First point - The character development and how you connect with each unique individual. Youre made to feel like you're in their thoughts and perspectives. You grow to love the characters and their personalities and quickly find your own favourites. He way Jesikah builds each character and their qualities and flaws is frankly immersive and talented.Second point - The book has a very progressive storyline and makes you hungering for what will happen next chapter yet unpredictable. The book always catches your interest.Third point - The metaphors and descriptions of settings is so graphic and perfect. You're made to paint a picture of the setting, the surrounds and how people look. I feel the writer, Jesikah, put a lot of heart into building a picture of her world. And it's beautiful. The word choices used in paragraphs are fitting and perfect in context to building the world.Fourth Point - The writer does this unusual break between chapters that is strangely refreshing. It gives better insight and meaning into the storyline and underlying meaning of how the characters think. I think this is genius. There's honestly so much I want to comment on about this book but am unable to without potentially spoiling plot points. If you love Sci Fi, Romance and ingenius intellectual reading with nonsexual adult themes - this book is simply beautiful and refreshing to read and alongside Elements the second book in the series, the series has become easily one of my favourite. Thanks Jesikah for your wonderful writing.
