Trunk LED Light Panel for 2013-2016 Mazda CX-5 CX5 Additional Cargo Lighting Accessories 5050 chip 30-SMD 6000K LED Bulbs

Bought this to resolve the rather inadequate OEM cargo area lighting in the CX-5. Couldn't be happier with the result! Light is much brighter and more evenly distributed in the cargo area. Was following a very helpful install video on YouTube for this product, but soon realized that the video is for older CX-5 models with the cargo light on the inside left. 2016s have the OEM cargo light on the hatch itself, so no need to run wires from the hatch to the roofline and down inside the car. So, easier installation for me. To avoid rattling from the excess wiring not needed for the 2016, I cut the Y-shaped wiring shorter on the straight portion, and also then cut a short piece with the in-line fuse from the kit's second straight wiring, and spliced those together. Popped off the trim as the video details, and took out the OEM light assembly on the lower hatch trim piece. Held the kit wiring in place with a lot of cable ties to avoid rattling, and then let the LED panel connectors and the end of the wiring harness dangle into the respective openings in the trim while replacing those pieces. I ran the kit's bare end wires through the vent slots on the bottom of the OEM light assembly and snapped that back into place. As instructed, I am using a festoon adapter in place of the existing bulb to avoid stressing the RBCM too much. I already had a LED bulb in the OEM light assembly, but still worried about the impact on the BCM. These panels fit perfectly and flush in the existing spaces, and their curve matches the existing trim as well.

Installation took about an hour - you'll definitely want a trim panel toolset if you don't already have one. You'll need to tap into the existing light harness for power or fabricate a connection like I did. All that having been said, the end result is fantastic and resolves a glaring design flaw with the vehicle.

2013 Mazda CX-5I’ve had these installed about 4 weeks and so far they’re great. These definitely provide more than enough light for the trunk area.I used the recommended festoon adaptor to connect to the existing trunk light. Simple installation also.I would buy these again.

These panels were easily installed in my 2016 CX-5. They provide more light than the original single interior tailgate light and since there is a panel on each side of the tailgate, the light is better distributed in the cargo area and there are no shadow areas. The wires easily attach to the existing light controller allowing the existing switch on the controller to turn the panels on/off.

Works great! Used the feaston adapter like the reviews said and had no problems! Also, use a little soap and water to fish the fitting through the boot, and it came right through!!

So much better lighting than the factory junk that was installed. If you do anything at night, camping, hiking, loading stuff, you need much better lighting and these provide it!

Easy install for anyone mildly familiar with auto trim panels and wiring, and a fairly detailed YouTube install video makes it dead simple. Can't believe I waited this long to get it done! Use a 30mm festoon adapter if you want these panels to operate from the factory cargo light switch.

Fitment was a little off, but once forced in, they are very effective. A good replacement for the existing dinky trunk light.
