Mace Brand Bear Spray

I picked this up during a recent trip to Montana, and having it on hand made a huge difference in how comfortable I felt exploring the outdoors. While I fortunately never had to deploy it in a real encounter, carrying it provided incredible peace of mind when hitting the trails. It’s well-designed, easy to carry, and gives you that extra layer of confidence knowing you have a reliable, long-range safety option ready just in case. When it comes to wildlife encounters and outdoor safety, you can truly never be too prepared. I’d highly recommend picking one up for anyone traveling through or spending time in bear territory—it's worth every penny for the reassurance alone.

This has a good long spray and you don't have to fiddle with it to use it and yet still safe you won't set it off by mistake. Great design.

This bear spray is great. I live where we right next to national forest. And we have problems with bears. So when I am outside I keep in my back pocket. Other pocket I always I my cell phone with me. If I need to call for Heip.

Let me tell you a little story. I always have this spray on the belt I use to walk my dogs. There are too many irresponsible owners and sketchy people out there. Normal stuff, right? Well, one day I grabbed it as usual (because it also holds their treats) and headed with my pups to the vet for their annual checkup. Oh, this is where things gey spicy. Literally. I was joyfully sitting in our consultation room when my biggest dog, weighting 80 lbs, decided he was too nervous and jumped on my lap. Next I know, I heard a “pshhhhht” and ask myself “what was that?” As I look down, my left hand and my other dog are covered in orange goo and an itch gets on my throat. I try to run from it. I can’t. Soon the 8x8 room was inundated and I had to open the door. Ar the same time, mucus is uncontrollably coming from my nose, and I can’t stop crying. Vet techs come to my aid are also assaulted by the stank. I am transferred to another room while high-powered fans air out the other room. The entire facility is coughing. Front desk, laboratory, guests. Everyone. The clinic decides to involve the Fire Department. Ten minutes after their arrival, the fire department calls in the Hazmat team. Hazmat asked me to wait in my car and stop contaminating more. Two hours later, the building was still being cleared out of the stank. I am so glad everyone understood it was a genuine accident, and that I was not expecting this spray to be so powerful. My dog had to be given an emergency bath, her harness needed three washes to stop making my throat itch, and my left hand had a burning sensation for a week. So, if you were wondering if this works. It will clear out a building. Get it!

I guess I didn’t realize the size because the photos listed are men. But if a bear or cougar was coming my way, as long as it works that’s the purpose. I included a picture with my hand (small glove size, 5’5” for reference). The one thing I don’t like about the included harness if you will, is the back isn’t Velcro so it has to slide onto a backpack strap or belt. You can’t Velcro it around anywhere you’d like. So it can’t go at a reachable spot on my backpack. Could have bought one without a harness knowing that

Well the apex predators seem to mind their own business so I haven't had to use it yet. But I really like the easy-out sheath it comes with. I don't like the sound of the Velcro fasterner, it sounds like a cat hiss so I adjust the flap when I'm in a remote area of the property. We get black bear sometimes, they're shy tho but I did have one start grunting at me from it's cuddle spot (why I carry bear spray now). Plus we've been seeing more cougar activity lately and they're shy too but just in case...

The bottle is large which is great and I love that you can spray it from at least 20 ft away.

Wanted this since I love walking at night and our area has had recorded leopard sightings. So this will help in case of an emergency encounter with a leopard.
