what kind of carbon steel is it like 1080

420 is not carbon steel it does have a 1% trace of carbon in it but it is not a high carbon blade. 420 is stainless steel it's what they call surgeon steel you can sharpen it to an extremely fine razor sharp blade but it will dull quickly in Bushcraft situations. It is a total lie that that is a carbon blade.

How good is the sheath?

The sheath does not appear to be leather....has the look of leather...but is strong. I like the belt hanger not being so wide so it allows some movement and the keeper is a snap but only on the hanger. So it has an old look. For the price of this it's a no brainer for utility....JM in Greensboro, NC

the body of the sheath is ok the belt loop needed a rework for my personal taste but overall it is holding up well
