I bought these in which to serve the classic soup.Perfect. The size is that of a hearty lunch course. A bowl of proper onion soup in this quantity is more than satisfactory.When put under the broiler the cheese melts over the croutons and bubbles around the edge of the bowl.Simple and elegant for presentation. If you make your Soupe a l'Oignon au Fromage from scratch, including stock and slow cooking the onions for 6-8 hours, it deserves a great bowl as the final touch.

My set arrived intact, none broken. They have now performed perfectly for many rounds of going into the oven for individual chicken pot pies and under the broiler for French Onion Soup (which is what they are designed for). Attractive, if you like white glossy serving pieces.

the definition of the lion head is quite nice, it came out from under the broiler unscathed. seems like a homer to me.

I originally purchased a couple of these style bowls at a speciality shop in a small town. Liked them so much that decided I needed more for guests and the shop I bought them from didn't carry them any more. As usual, found just what I needed on Amazon and at a better price then what I originally paid! I got four bowls on Amazon for just a little more than what I paid for two at the specialty store. They came beautifully packaged in bubble wrap - not a chip on them. Put them to use right away! Thanks Amazon!

I would not buy again. Not nearly big enough for cold afternoon bowl of soup with grilled cheese. My husband laughed at them as soup bowls but they are good for chips. I didnt need chip bowls though.

Soup bowls themselves are excellent - nice design, good size - really like them. I only gave them three stars because they were packed so poorly. First shipment - two were smashed. Amazon very quickly replaced these with another order but one bowl was smashed in the replacement order as well. They are not padded with enough bubble wrap and until this changes this will be an ongoing problem!

The manufacturer does minimal packing of these bowls, but Amazon just went crazy wrapping them about 8 times in bubble wrap. The box was a good 4 inches thick in layers of bubble wrap for each box (I bought 3 sets). So, when they arrived, it took a while to unwrap them but they were all pristine. I took them out one by one and checked for cracks (have received many glass items from Amazon in which one is broken) and found none. These are very attractive bowls and will sit well with my china and silver.
