Reliable light source for hurricane season and camping
After reading many reviews about the unreliability and uneven quality control across budget flashlights, I found many positive reviews on this light about its durability and decided to follow suit.As someone who lives in a major city prone to hurricanes, this light is a great, cheap addition to our flat. Plus, the fact that it uses AA batteries (including some Eneloop rechargeable ones we have) makes it even easier to power if the batteries it came with die.The flashlight has a nice design that's easy to grip, the rubberized button is easy to depress, the batteries are easy to replace, and its availability in multiple colors means you can give one to each family member or roommate. Also, the plastic clip makes hooking the flashlight to a hiking backpack or hanging from the ceiling during a power outage simple. The 55 lumen bulb is not particularly bright, but it's helpful around the house or for camping with other people. I have a 1000 lumen flashlight I use at a campground for more coverage when needed, but this one is low impact for finding something in a tent while your partner is sleeping. In summary, I highly recommend this light for its design, functionality, and reliability. And at this price, it's unbeatable.

Durable and affordable
I love these flashlights. I have several in the house and in the Rv. They last forever; my oldest one was bought in 2016 and still going strong in 2024. They are bright, easy on batteries, and waterproof. Totally recommend.

Lightweight
I like the grip. I like the color I chose. I appreciate the lumens. I think there is nothing I don't like. I appreciate that I can buy batteries instead of product being LED. LED doesn't give enough light. I like that the handle has a carabiner clip. Good for hiking. Not good for a weapon, forbid you need it. Happy shopping

Great for a while, then a couple stopped working, but can be fixed
I bought a few of these Dorcy flashlights about 2 years ago. The brightness level is pretty good. They last a decent amount of time between needing new batteries. They're very lightweight but feel pretty sturdy, rugged. I never tested how waterproof they are or if they really float. But overall I was pleased until recently, when half of them just stopped working completely, even with new batteries. I'm guessing maybe the light bulbs burned out. Which is weird because I only used the flashlights occasionally, and I thought these sorts of bulbs were supposed to have many hundreds of hours of light-up time available, so I was expecting that with only occasional use they'd last for years. As far as I know you can't easily buy bulb replacements for these flashlights. And I can't even be sure that the bulbs are the problem. But if they fail after just a couple of years of occasional use and the failed parts can't be replaced -- overall this flashlight starts to seem like a total waste of plastic. It's a shame, because based on initial usage these seemed like flashlights that'd be good forever as long as you kept feeding them batteries. They've also oddly tripled in price since I originally bought them. At the new pricing, you're better off buying a higher quality light with replaceable and/or longer lasting and/or more reliable bulbs and other components (depending one whatever it is making these fail after a while).UPDATE 1 - 2022:Upon closer inspection, I found that some of the battery contacts on all of Dorcy 55 flashlights I owned had developed a little bit of rust/corrosion. Scraping that away to get back down to bare metal, and stretching out some of the compressed springs, ended up being the fix for every broken unit.UPDATE 2 - 2023:All of the Dorcy Flashlights I own, including the ones I previously fixed via cleaning off a bit of corrosion on the battery contacts over a year ago, are still working great, even after getting played with extensively by my kids and being used during a couple of power outages. These flashlights are turning out to be more rugged than I’d originally thought. Good stuff.

Has a very brilliant light
This little flashlight lights up a whole room. I use it at night in case lights go out & room is jet black. It is small enough to fit on table next to bedside.

Love it
Really bright. Lights a long distance. I got this for walking my dog. I like the clip on the end, I will clip it to my belt loops when I don't need or when I'm picking up after her. So far the battery is lasting well.

My favorite Flashlights
I now have a number of these. They are a comfortable size, The beam is directive, but not a pencil beam so you don't trip over things that you can't see while being blinded by a reflections from small spot. They are at least highly water resistant, I have used them in rain. The carabiner end is occasionally handy. They last a long time with a set of batteries compared to typical "tactical" lights. They don't have the tactical "edge" to cut through things in your glove compartment or your clothing, ....in fact the front edge is rubber. They are brightly colored so you can find one when one is needed, They hold up well in vehicles. Best of all, they are "on", or "off" so you don't have to push a button 3 to 6 times to get past a lot of useless "features" or an annoying flasher to simply light an area. They also work well with rechargeable or alkaline cells. I have had no failures out of 10 flashlights .... some in service over 5 years now....although you DO have to watch alkaline cells so they don't corrode the battery holder.... pretty decent reliability....
