Perfect
What movies are supposed to be. This is a well-casted masterpiece. Love the cast, and the way they all synched up. Everybody looked their best. Seeing the fun they had while in these places, during the credits, was a nice extra touch. Wonderful movie. Marvelously entertaining.

Funny Cast But Not Funny Here
In this 2009 film, four couples, all friends, arrive at a tropical island resort. While one couple is there to work on their marriage, the others are there to have some fun in the sun.The couples rapidly learn that paradise comes at a price as couples therapy sessions are required. Most individuals saw this as a cheap vacation that turned into an examination of the everyday obstacles that many people face.Despite a fantastic ensemble and usually funny banter, this picture leaves viewers stranded in a dry, dreary comedy. Through therapy, the film basically informs us that partnerships are all about expressing feelings and having wonderful sex.The film's cast was underutilized. The themes and ultimate goals of each set of couples in the film are far too serious for such a lighthearted cast. It's an unorganized, uninspired comedy that could have been so much more than another dull romantic comedy.

By far my favorite ROMCOM to watch with my wife
One of my favorite Vince Vaughn movies, and still relevant years later.

Expected more
Was looking for a movie that would make me laugh and although there were several laugh out loud scenes I expected a lot more from the preview. Found myself multitasking-a good indication that it was not a movie that could hold my interest.

fabulous!

A surprise gem
“Honey, you work 8 till 8, You’re not going to be helping anyone.” (Ronnie)Couples Retreat is a 2009 humorous RomCom in which four couples go to an upmarket resort to help one of the couples sort out their marital problems but once there, inner tensions threaten not only the couples but the friendships within the group itself.Every now and again a film comes along and surprises me -this is one of those. At almost 2 hours, this shot by. The powerpoint presentation that launches the entire premise of the movie really sets the tone. Very much a sitcom, this makes the most of the situations and whilst it’s not entirely believable it is persuasive enough in a movie sort of way. The acting was convincing and you tend to get drawn in if you just ‘go with it’ and don’t over-think things. Great to see Jean Reno (Leon) playing an opposite type role here. The single disc opens to a language menu of English and mainly Scandinavian or Central European languages then plays three film adverts. The film, rated 15 features play, scenes, bonus (alternate ending, gag reel, deleted scenes, extended scenes Therapy’s greatest hits) and set up languages (English, Magyar, Descriptive video service) and subtitles (as opening language screen).Language can be a bit crude and isn’t always PC such as “Dave, you’re white. You can’t understand this.” (Shane) but it’s all tongue in cheek humour along with the adult themes that abound throughout but there is no nudity other than some male buttocks and plenty of innuendo. As entertainment it did the job ***** and I wonder why this isn’t on TV more -it’s much better than most movies that end up on TV -but I guess it’s all down to the politically correct brigade.

Fabulous
I adore this comedy film for its visual richness and great dialogue. Definitely a crowd pleaser. A film to put on and be transported to a tropical island (Eden) for a mega helping of that zany Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn humour.

Good Fun-Loving Film
This film is a great, fun-loving film that will really get you in the holiday mood! It is based on the idea of struggling couples who go to this island in search of relighting their fire, each discovering they have more problems than they thought. It was filmed at the St. Regis resort in Bora Bora and the setting is truly breathtaking!!Bearing this in mind, the scenery still does not detract from the short, funny quips that the film has to offer - with noticeably good performances from ALL the cast. (Some of whom are only familiar faces in previous commedies.) Even Jean Reno's character - Monsuire Marcel - is fantastically funny yet still believable as a therapist. The film is light-hearted and inoffensive with some awkward, yet funny scenes involving a good-looking yoga instructor and in contrast, Vince Vaughn is covered in chum, then overly exaggerates his experience with some small reef sharks! (Amusing the others at dinner.) Both these scenes and some others (such as the Guitar Hero playoff) in the film make it an enjoyable watch and it is definately worth the price. However the film does lack an in-depth story and has a somewhat predicatable ending - but what more do you want from this genre anyway??For those who enjoy a light-hearted giggle and some hilarious episodes, with a bit of originality, this film is worth the watch. If you are looking for some intense acting and a hard-talking storyline, then this is not your kind of film.
