As you add more and more wood to your fire, you will also need to clear away the resulting ash. Keep it discreetly contained and out of sight with the Boone Hearth Portable Ash Holder Ash Bucket. It's a great alternative to using a regular garbage can that most likely does not match the atmosphere of the rest of your living room decor, and it lets you avoid the hassle of running excess ash to a wastebasket in a different room. It sits neatly alongside your other black steel fireplace tools from Boone Hearth! All you have to do is use a shovel or scoop to deposit the ash in the holder and then shut the lid to prevent any from escaping. The short legs raise it off the ground and give the piece a little bit of personality to stand alongside a decorative tool set or a fancy bellow. When the receptacle is full, grab it by the sturdy handle and dump it outdoors or in the nearest garbage can. Boone Hearth has included three different handles with each ash holder bucket. This way, you can choose the one that matches your decor the best.

Perfect!
We bought this item to use as storage for the 40 lb. bags of pellets we use to supplement our wood-burning fireplace. It's perfect!! Well built, sturdy and it has a clean, contemporaty look. The best part is the way the lid opens and rests against the handle allowing you to scoop the pellets. And with another sturdy handle at the back, you can stand the unit upright to fill. No mess ever - perfect!!

OK
I like the shape and layout. Bit of a pain to assemble - need 3 hands. The wrap used to bind parts must have been put on when paint was wet - became part of the black and had to be sanded off! Parts were left loose inside with no packing. Interior badly scarred up.

Dont buy
It was all banged up when it arrived. It didn't come with any hardware or instructions. I had to go out to purchase the bolts to assemble it myself. Then, while I was assembling it, I found out that some of the holes weren't even drilled in the right place so some of the pieces wouldn't go together. I had to drill out holes through the metal myself in order to get it completely assembled. I don't write very many reviews but this was so terrible that I wanted people to be aware.

Unusable handles
The silver handles are missing holes to be able to use them.

Modern and ergonomic ash bucket
Putting the rear handle on was a little tricky (preassembled would have been better) but it's a sturdy ash bucket that I only have to dump about once a week. (the lid is pretty effective at containing any smell.) Dumping the ashes can be a little awkward with the attached hinged lid, but I prefer the design to a bucket.

Perfect for my side-load wood stove..
Arrived in perfect condition. Very carefully packaged by the manufacturer. Double boxed by Amazon. All the parts/holes lined up perfectly. Hardware is good quality with generous quantity. The top handle inserts are solid metal and the three included sets give you color choices which is nice. I was struggling to remove ashes from my small side-load wood stove into a round bucket without making a mess (Woodstock Fireview). The Boone ash holder slides right under my door opening making the process much easier. I removed the rear feet so it tilts back for a little better access. I also removed two screws from the top handle so that it pivots and allows the hinged lid to open further. Nice product for a fair price. The only other ash holder that I found similar to this one is $159 which is way beyond my budget. Amazon had a great price on the Boone. Very pleased.

Heck of a good price
I researched this type of ash bucket since seeing one in a retail store (for $180). Found numerous others at prices from $80 to almost $200. All looked pretty much the same. Figured for $39 (plus $10 off), I could always send it back if it was crap. It's not!!! Arrived quickly and in great shape. Assembly was very easy. Would have been happy with this ash bucket at twice the price. Very nice sturdy ash bucket at an awesome price!

No hardware
The item was packed well. Seems well made for the money. The problem I had was that it arrived with no hardware to assemble. Also, no directions at all.
