This Shammy is very thin. I am dissapointed
I have been using Leather Shammys for decades. This one disappointing me. I waited a year to write this in order to give it a chance. Yes it does do a decent job absorbing water and is soft. But it is very thin. The thinnest Shammy I have ever had. Maybe its because its deerskin. About half the thickness I am used to and expected. Yes, there is a smell but that does not bother me, I only use it for my car, externally. Because it is so thin it soaks up a lot less moister than I would like and causing me many more strokes than normal. I am very disappointed and would not recommend you buy this to do large drying jobs like the outside of your car. I would say its fine for small items.

Best Chamois I've ever owned!
I was a bit hesitant to use at first because the smell was unpleasant right out of the package; that is because it is a hide. This chamois dried my car so fast and without streaks, swirls, smudges- even the windshield! This is really worth the money; don't hesitate to buy if you need a really great chamois!

Too thin to be 5 stars...
Overall, not bad. The size is good, but it's too thin. Hold it up to the sunlight and you can almost see through it.I'll use it to pull the standing water off the truck after it rains or after we wash the truck, but be careful wringing the water out of this shammy.

I paid $6 for this, in an art store this is around $20 - $50 for this size, and it is real skin. I use it for blending all drawing mediums such as pencils, colour and graphite, conte, pastels and carbon. you can cut it up into the sizes you want. Will never buy from an art store again!!!

dust-free and absorbent
I gave these to my dad to use on his new vehicle and he said they work very well. They're better than your average rag as they don't leave dust or streaks.

I'm loving my new chamois
In my many years experience of cleaning cars, I've found that you can't beat using a good quality chamois leather to quickly dry your vehicle - and guarantee a streak-free finish on your paintwork. The problem is finding a suitable, genuine chamois that is reasonably priced. Many on the market are of inferior quality - as in: gossamer thin, too small (not much bigger than a fig leaf), a weird shape, made up of several pieces stitched together etc etc. So, with this in mind, I probably spent more time than was strictly necessary looking at all the pros and cons of those offered on Amazon, before finally choosing to spend my hard-earned cash on this one from Trainshow. This really is a lovely, genuine chamois. It has a decent thickness to it, it's beautifully soft, and it's a pleasure to use. It has to be remembered that this is derived from a deer skin. So, as you would expect, it has an irregular shape - however, this is of a generous size, which means I was easily able to make two large leathers from it, two small leathers, and still have a few off-cuts which I'll use for cleaning my reading glasses. As a matter of interest, at its longest and widest points, mine measured 37ins x 25ins (94cm x 64cm). I therefore consider this excellent value. If you've never owned or used a chamois then it's worth making sure you look after it. Before its first use, you need to gently wash it in warm water, using a mild soap - this will remove any of the excess tanning oils. It's then ready to use. After each future use, wash it in water and mild soap, leave a small amount of soap residue in the chamois, gently wring it out, and pull it back into shape and hang it up to dry naturally (away from a radiator or direct sunlight). Follow those few simple steps and your chamois should stay supple, and last you a very long time. I'm more than pleased with mine. In fact I'm so impressed I've just placed an order for a couple more (Christmas presents for my brothers).

Huge and Robust
First off, this is a massive chamois! I cut mine into quarters and each piece was still larger than my old standard leather. I've been using it once a week for the past three months and so far it seems to be lasting very well. It does a very good job of drying, more so than my old one. However, it does tend to deposit little white specks here and there hence I'm only giving it four stars.

Does the job
Slightly thinner than expected but did a very good job on the wipe down of car. Very soft and absorbent.

Excellent
I don't normally get enthusiastic about animal skin but this is a very good. It seems to stay reasonably supple even when dry and is large enough to keep a firm grip on while drying the car. Does a great job. I subsequently purchased another one future use.

Best Chamois leather I have owned once used a few ...
Best Chamois leather I have owned once used a few times. Even after rinsing thoroughly from new it took a few wipe downs before it did not leave a film on the paint work. This is not a criticism just some advice for any purchasers i.e. do not be put off by initial results.
