4 Stars! Ronin Aluminum Training Folders
This product offers some great features that really help to harness the real feel of carrying a folding knife. The quality of the folder itself is descent and for the price of 12 dollars on Amazon; it's hard to beat. The blade is a dull 3.25 inch aluminum blade and the folded length is 4.75 inches. This training folder ressembles an actual folder from a distance and can easily be mistaken for a live edged weapon when wielded. What Ronin Brings to The TableThe pocket clip is great for practicing drawing and rapid employment of the edged weapon. This tiny little clip adds so much dimension to training. This is especially true for anyone who regularly carries a folding knife. Now one can practice attacking from the draw as realistically as one would actually draw their live folder. The knife allows for practice of flicking it open and also employing the knife from a pocket if taken to the ground. The Ronin aluminum folding trainer is a great training tool; however one of the set backs is that it does not come in any other capacity but for right handed use. One is able to convert it however for left handed drawing; but it requires that one purchase a special screw and the knife was not actually designed for ambidextrous usage and isn't as sturdy as the default right handed clip. This is a fantastic product that I recommend for everyone who wants to get the edge in edged weapon training. My only complaint is that Ronin doesn't make it ambidextrous or compatible to be switched to left handed. I rate this product with four out of five stars. To see the full review go to The Fort Worth Martial Arts Examiner [...]

GenPro Folding Trainer - Excellent trainer for the price
I bought two of these, and the ones I received are actually marked "Ronin Gear", not "GenPro", but they are otherwise identical to the image shown. These are liner-lock style folding trainers, very generic in shape and feel, so they will be reasonably close in feel to many EDC folders by SOG, Benchmade, Ontario, etc.The pocket clip is 18mm (3/4") from the end of the handle, tip-down, right-hand carry, only. So, if you are practising deployment, this may be an issue. They have a good weight, solid handle, and the two I have show no play in the blade when open. They can also take a good beating. The liner lock on one of my trainers is a bit long, as another reviewer mentioned, which makes it necessary to push the blade open with just a bit of extra pressure to engage the lock. Disassembly and a bit of very fine filing on the liner will fix this. The other trainer has no issues at all.The texture on the liner at the forefinger groove can be a bit irritating, depending on how you grip a knife. Also, you may want to file down the corners on the blade as the grind is flat edge with little to no bevelling. This can tear skin pretty easily if you make contact with bare skin when training.Overall, these trainers are an excellent option for those who do not have $100 or so to spend on a name-brand trainer to match their EDC.

Ronin folding trainer.
Grate, but the handle is a bit bigger then it needs to be. It's a big pocket knife with out the knife. fun to play with, have no real use for it though got them for a friend...lol. So they should write this instead... but.... The proforce one has a grate handle but the blade... Well it looks like a folding butter knife...SO, I'd take this one for sure! LOOKS grate, feels pretty good too, just like any old pocket knife at the store basically, just a bit bigger. Not much, but you really notice it in your hand. So Ronin and ProForce should take lessons from each-other.The reason I mention the profoce, is because it has a thumb thing on both sides of the buttering blade... SO if you're left handed, definitely pass on this one and look else where. (It's the one with a lil finger groove / indent in the handle, if you wanted the proforce

Nice, heavy weight
I bought this to practice juggling with and the feel of it is perfect. I had been using heavier sticks and kitchen knives, both of which have their own problems. I didn't want one with a rim on the handle, and I didn't want a super large juggling knife because I'm using them at the park while I walk. It doesn't come with any directions (of course, it's a knife) and I have no idea how to close it, but I'm sure someone can show me. Although the blade is quite thick, heavy, and dull, and reads "Cannot be sharpened," because of it's weight I did nick my leg with it and it left a small scratch, but not enough to even bleed, just a little red mark. I know it's not meant to be used for juggling, but there are limited options out there for the odd habit I seem to have picked up of catching knives to meditate. It's small enough to quickly stash in my pocket whenever anyone comes by, so they don't think I'm a deranged maniac on the loose. I'm getting a second one.

Hightly worth it, especially if you practive knife defenses
I am going to give this product a 5 star simply for the realism of the knife. Upon opening the knife from the box, it looked and felt like a real pocket knife. Only after opening the "blade" were you able to tell it was for training only. "Blade" had a good durable feel and so does the handle. My only issue (slight at best, was an easy fix), was that by opening the knife with your thumb, the locking mechanism didn't want to latch properly, causing the knife to fold up. This caused problems in training when you pulled from your pocket and attacked. I was able to disassemble the knife, shave the mechanism slightly and problem was fixed. No more issues. I am a Krag Maga practitioner and i would highly recommend this knife to anyone dealing with knife defenses.

It is fairly easy to open and includes a tHumb stud
This trainer is a very inexpensive practice knife for knife training. It is fairly easy to open and includes a tHumb stud. It may not be ideal for practicing deployment techniques due to its cheaper build, but still an awesome value. The only small issue I had was the screw that tightens the blade to the handle has a tendency to work loose making the blade wobble slightly. Not a big deal to simply use a screwdriver to tighten it.
