I want to use this as a freeze warning for my garage. Would like it to go off if it gets below like 42 degrees. Would this work?

Does the Max min setting measure the highest/lowest temp during a set period of time? If so what is that time? 24 hours?

It measures the max/min temperature since you last reset it.

Must I drill a hole in my freezer to use this item?

I routed the cord in back and underneath and ran it up thru the freezer drain hole .

The definition of out probe and in probe are vague. if i'm using this in the freezer is the in probe?= freezer & out probe? room temp?

We have our control display on the outside of the refrigerator. The wired probe sensor is inside the refrigerator compartment and corresponds to the "out" setting. The "in" sensor and setting is within the display so in our case reads the room temp at the outside door. Hope that helps.
