Yes. I've been using a different brand for more than a year and just switched to this brand for my 2 cats that have IBD. My vet approved.

I don't know. I have used both Vet RX and this product and frankly the only determining factor was the price. Both products worked equally well for my GSD with very sensitive digestion - digestive clay has been the ONLY remedy for my GSD's periodic bouts of diarrhea.
