Really takes the edge off a hot day
Comparing the negative reviews to the positive reviews to my own experience, it's pretty clear that most of the people giving this thing a bad review didn't realize what they were actually buying. This will NOT air condition your entire house. It's basically just a small fan that blows colder air than a regular fan at you. Like regular fans, that means will not cool off your entire house or apartment, but it will keep the area in front of it cool. And it's amazing! We put it on the ottoman in front of the couch while watching tv, and having a regular floor fan behind us with this thing in front was way cooling, much better than the fan by itself. It's not going to replace an actual air conditioner on a super hot day, but it's got just enough cooling power to be really helpful if you can't use an a/c (maybe because you live in an apartment and technically aren't allowed to have one, or you can't afford to buy one because yiiiiikes they're expensive). But it's really helpful for if a fan just isn't enough to cool you down. Also because of its small size, I find I prefer using it to fans when it's a little cooler out. Sometimes fans are obnoxious, they're loud, they blow things over, but this little thing doesn't have the blowing power to knock all your papers off your desk like a big floor fan does. I like to just have it on the ottoman blowing on my propped-up feet. It's supreme.I see some people complaining about how you can't turn the lights off, but you can. You need to keep hitting the light button, you have to cycle through all the light options but there's an "off" option at the end of them. The lights that indicate what settings are on don't turn off, but they're really minor - like, they aren't really bright.I especially like that this thing is small enough that it won't be hard to store somewhere in winter when it presumably won't be needed, unlike those big oscillating fans which are awkward to find a place for.Cons: On the highest settings it's kind of noisy, but it's a steady noise level so it's easy to learn to tune out and turn the tv volume up over. Also the plug for it gets EXTREMELY hot after it's been on. I don't think it's necessarily a fire hazard, but I would give it a few minutes after you turn it off before you unplug it from the wall. All in all, if you know what to expect from this little guy, you will really enjoy it and appreciate it. Don't go into this thinking it's a $35 air conditioner that will put your entire home into the arctic circle. It will give a nice cold blast to the area about 6 feet in front of it, which cools more efficiently than a fan but isn't as effective as an actual air conditioner. This guy is an air *cooler*.Side note: You're encouraged to put ice cubes in the fill thing, and it can take an entire tray of ice cubes to fill it up!Edit: One year later and it's still great and I am still genuinely baffled by all the negatives. This thing got me through some nearly 100 degree days. It does NOT leak if you use it correctly other than some condensation drips, which iirc it does mention can happen. I really truly do not understand the bad reviews, like people were expecting this thing that's smaller than a CD player to cool their entire homes all day by itself??

No stated warranty, PureChill will not support their product sold on Amazon
Less than 24 hours after the first unit failed the second of 4 units I purchased failed. This is after less than 60 days use. When I contacted Amazon about the first unit they said they would email instructions for return within 3-4 hours. It has been over 2 days and I have not received anything. Returning a defect item after the normal return period is a not easy. You cannot contact directly a solution. You have to repeat 30 minutes of AI devised shields to discourage you from returning an item. With the second unit failing 50% of the units I purchased failed between 30 & 60 days after purchase.I purchased 4 of these at the end of April and placed them in service the beginning of May. One of the units failed the end of June. The unit no longer powers on and the power supply is shot. I tried the unit with a working power supply from another unit and it would not work. The card shipped with the unit said DO NOT RETURN TO STORE and had instructions to contact PureChill. I tried to email them but the email immediately bounced back .. a bad sign. I called PureChill and a long story short they said since I purchased it on Amazon I was SOL but could try calling Amazon. I searched the box and included materials and no where is there any warranty information. I suppose this means there is no warranty on the product at all. After 10 minutes of digging through Amazon and going around the "outside return date" I got on live chat with a real rep. who offered a refund and the details would be sent in an email with instructions. Thank you Amazon for providing some relief. It is obvious this product was designed for a quick buck for the manufacturer. After 60 days I have a 25% chance of product failure. The 4 units do not operate at the same efficiency. If I started them all at the same time with the same amount of water and the same settings, they drained the water differently. One unit drained to empty while the others took 2-3 hours more to empty. The longer draining units did not cool as well.I cannot recommend this product based on my experience.

provides cool breeze in small area. USB powered
a lot of work for a nice breeze (not for a bedroom sized space) but it will coolyou off when faced directly in your direction. airflow vents for up and down do work well. you can see the air mist shooting out of the machine on a hot day. as far as portability , you need an outlet USB port and A to C cable. so it needs to be consistently plugged in. would be great if you could just charge it. works without “ice/water” as a normal fan but not worth using without the cold water or ice cubes in the water, at that point you’re probably better off with an ordinary fan. it gets loud on “full speed” but fan speed 3 and “chill” mode 2 isn’t too loud and does provide cool air. the filter needs to be cleaned after each use just running through cold water and for the best results put the filter in the freezer too (in my opinion not worth the time for the little bit of extra cold air). but needs to be cleaned regardless. it’s alot lighter in weight than i thought and smaller dimension wise but one tray of ice cubes will fit into the top with a little bit of water and will be melted down to ice water within 45 mins and provide a cool breeze when faced in your direction. been using for 2 weeks in a hot work space almost running 24 hours a day and it’s still holding up however one of the vent blades has broken somehow and just faces downward with no sign of how or where it broke .. for the price and size it will be useful for the right condition i gave 3 stars because the vent blades simply breaking out of no where. also i have to stack it on a few boxes to be high enough in the air to reach me. i think the more expensive ones are worth it if your looking for something to keep you cool not break easily

Excellent Product
This review is for the Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0 Evaporative Air Cooler by Ontel - Powerful, Quiet, Lightweight and Portable Space Cooler with Hydro-Chill Technology For Bedroom, Office, Living Room & More,Blue:People have a love/hate relationship with this evaporative cooler. As a retired 35 year career in both Residential and Commercial HVAC/R, I can tell you this is not an air-conditioner as most people would think. Please be smarter than that. Let me also clear up something else about air-conditioning. Air-Conditioners DO NOT make cold air. A/C's remove heat from the air passing over an evaporator coil. I'll stop here and keep it simple.Much like a Swamp Cooler, used in drier climate areas, a fan or blower creates an air stream. Then you have a mister or Piezo device adding water vapor droplets to the air stream. This causes the water molecules to change from a liquid state to a vapor state. This removes some heat from the air stream and blows it into the space. Remember we are now adding moisture to the air. So technically this device is also a personal Humidifier. With this device, the principal is the same but on a (personal) scale. What I mean is, it is not going to cool down a space. So again... this is a personal device that is meant to be pointed towards a person to receive the full effects of the device. Now to make this work a little better, I fill the container with ice cubes and then add water to top off. Don't worry about running out of water to soon. The ice will melt fast. What you are doing is just chilling the misting water down a bit, absorbing some more BTU's before it is dispersed into the air stream.Another thing that is helpful is to take the cartridge out, saturate it with water and freeze it. When you are ready, just drop the frozen cartridge into place, turn on the machine and enjoy.Modes of operation are:Fan - Three speed settings (Fan Blade) symbolCool - Two settings (Snowflake) symbolTurbo - A button for Highest Fan Setting (+)Light - A button for the LED Color changing lights, and to turn off the lights completelyOkay, Class dismissed. So here are the PRO's:It works as advertised to cool and humidify the air around (You).I like the size of it. Not too intrusive or overly small. Excellent design. It is easy to use and functions as designed. The power supply is included! It is a 120VAC to 12VDC and is very efficient at drawing only 8 to 10 Watts of power. An added bonus not mentioned in the "About this Item" is that you can use a 12VDC car adaptor to run this in your car without an inverter. Also you can plug a USB-C end to end into a cell phone battery bank and run your cooler. Works off any solar generator too.Great For Power Outages:The Price is excellent at this time.Okay, CON's:Subjective - Fan noise level. Remember you have three speeds and then the Turbo speed. Not going to lie to you... It can get loud on turbo and high. Slower speeds are much more tolerable. So for my recommendation, and for what it is, and its intended use, I give it five stars.I ain't kidding you, last night we lost power briefly. I quickly set this up to work off my solar generator with a USB-C. cable and it worked flawlessly.I highly recommend the Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0

Excellent for PERSONAL Use
I bought the Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0 hoping for a little extra relief during the summer, and overall I'm very happy with it. This is a **personal air cooler**, not an air conditioner. It won't cool an entire room, but it does a nice job if it's sitting on your desk, nightstand, or right beside you. I noticed the coolest air when I used a **soaked or frozen cooling cartridge.**The air is definitely more refreshing than using a regular fan. The only thing that frustrated me was finding the cooling cartridge drawer. It's located on the front of the unit, but it isn't labeled. A simple label would make cleaning and replacing the cartridge much easier.I also like that it's compact, fairly quiet, has multiple fan speeds, and uses very little electricity. Keep in mind that you'll need to refill the water tank regularly, especially on the higher fan settings. Like other evaporative coolers, it works best for personal cooling rather than lowering the temperature of an entire room.Overall, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. It's a good option if you want a portable cooler for your personal space and have realistic expectations.

Faulty product illustration, poor help from the manufacturer
I ordered two units for when my AC goes on the blink and they work ok for a small area (which is all I need). The problem is with the instructions. The illustration for the product does show where the Air Direction Tab, the Water Tank, the Power/Fan Speed Button, the Turbo Button, the Cooling Control, and the Light On/Off Button is as well as the Power Adapter and the Cartridge.HOWEVER the very next page of the instructions booklet in item #2 says to “Use the Cartridge Drawer Tab to pull out the cartridge drawer and removed the cartridge. BIG problem, the illustration does not show where that “Tab” is and on the setup page it has a picture that makes it look like it is on the side. Guess What - there is NO TAB ON THE SIDE - EITHER SIDE!!! I called the number on the booklet and the woman that answered said it is at the bottom of the vent on the side (she was looking at the SAME BOOKLET I WAS APPARENTLY. When I told her that there was no tab at the bottom of the vent on the side she wanted to argue with me. She told me to send it back to Amazon or the company could send a “ONE TIME REPLACEMENT” in the most rude voice I ever heard. NOTHING ON THE UNIT IS MARKED AS BEING THE CARTRIDGE DRAWER TAB - NOTHING. So I looked at all aspects of the unit and found out that the ENTIRE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE VENT THAT HAS A LITTLE ENTIRE SHELF AS THE BOTTOM OF THE VENT IS THE SO CALLED “TAB”. Forget about their customer service - apparently they - or at least that one person is not able to communicate effectively about their own product. It would make it easier if the illustration as well as the unit itself labeled that last edge of the vent as being the “tab”. The operation is fairly good, but do not count on anything from that company being illustrated property. Forget about the typographical errors in the narrative of the instructions booklet, I guess they don’t proofread their own instructions.

It is a personal spritz style cooling fan not an Air Conditioner
This product does work as a spritzing fan personal cooler. However, do not expect it to make any room cool when the temps are above say 80°F / 26-27°C. I have a battery powered early 2000s version of this that I take camping to deal with heat of the day heat. However, this version is more efficient than the older design but works exactly the same way. My use was because Refrigerant was low on my Home HVAC and it would be close to 10 days to get the canister of Refrigerant delivered. I froze the cartridge and applied ice to the water tank and even added ice to the upper tray to melt cold water into tank. The result. House temp was 77°F to 79°F that was as low the HVAC could currently cool on a 100°F+ day. The Pure Chill 2.0 has a better fan design than the original version which I do not own but have used before in an office that had one. So, air flow is such that you can place the unit 4-5 foot /122 -152cm away. The effective cooling time is 2 hours max but closer to 1.5 hours before water in tank reaches equilibrium to room temperature. At this point, you have to add ice to tank or turn it off for an hour to freeze the cartridge. The overall room temperature dropped 2°F for a 200 square foot space. If you are in the effective 15-20° arc of the fan, the cooling effect is noticeable and much cooler. The air coming out immediately with new frozen cartridage is around 50°F on a hot day and it climbs to room temperature quickly at a rate of 1°F for every 5 minutes for the first 30-40 minutes before it begins reaching thermal equilibrium. In truth, you will need extra cartridges to maintain advertised cooling where 1 or 2 is in the freezer swapping them out every hour or so. Is Pure chill cost effective over other versions? Not really! My choice for this unit was the fan power as I did not want it running next to me up at 5-6 feet away. Otherwise, I would have bought other versions which have easily accessible replacement cartridges that are super cheap verses these which are ridiculously expensive.

Keeps small places cool during the hottest months
This is a great little air conditioner for your desk for even the hottest months of the year. The ability to change the fan speed and push the extra cool button and chill a small office space in no time. The weight and probability of this little AC makes it super easy to move desk to desk or room to room. It does leak water when on the highest setting but does not cause any damage to the machine.

Love that turbo button 🥶
These Machines are fantastic!! I use it everyday including cool days.I use to own the same model but it stopped working after two years of continuous use, my body overheats a lot so I need things to cool me down and fast. The fan is incredibly powerful (I'm a fan guy lol)I was honestly shocked how powerful it was and the mist comes out very fine so nothing gets wet on the table or on the machine, Some people may say that "it doesn't blow cold air" but when a fan blows air it is automatically cooler. You can't expect it to be an AC unit *THIS IS NOT AN AC UNIT*I never bought it for this purpose thinking it was an AC unit (I have AC's) I bought it so it could cool me down in out of the way spots, from the main AC unit we have and it does just that.Sometimes fall asleep to it being on and when I wake up there's no more water in the tank lolI love putting ice cubes in the water or dipping the filter into water letting it soak, then putting it in the freezer, putting it back in the machine and turning it on, makes it so much colder, you can even put cold objects behind the fan like ice packs and it will increase even more. It's not gonna drop the temperature in a room from 38° down to 30°, it's a personal cooling device meant for one person but it is not for an entire room, maybe for some air circulation but that's about all.I did find the first one I used, the cord stopped charging and even when I used another USB-C's it would not charge anymore, unfortunately the newest one I just bought fell off the table and smashed to pieces 😭 So now I will have to order another one, can't live without it anymore.I would highly recommend these to anybody who have overheating issues at home It's way better than a spray bottle with a fan by a longshot the only thing I would like that it doesn't have is an oscillation option. Gets very cold 🥶 on one spot too long lol
