Plated Shot Stains Pervious Rubber Barrel & Contents
I just read the fine print. This shot is stainless steel PLATED. Why is it not solid? The very first time I used my 3lb lortone rubber barrel tumbler, I used one pound of this shot and burnishing liquid to try to age some white milk glass shards, running for 24 hours. The water turned dark gray, my rubber barrel was coated in an odd silver color, my white glass turned gray, and one of the white pieces was coated in metallic silver! I think I just found the explanation why- the fine print about plating instead of solid stainless steel. I ran the tumbler again with Dawn detergent without any glass for 24 hrs. Same thing, dark gray water and silvery barrel. I can't clean this silvery crap off my barrel and cover, it seems to be integrated into the top layer of the rubber. Thanks a bunch.

Perfect for jewelry making
This steel shot for use in a tumbler works great. It is the best media I’ve found I use it in coin ring making. It really puts a shine on the metal. Awesome product

Not worth time or money.
Yikes, terrible terrible finish. Jagged burs all over the place, sharp edges, dull finish. Scared to even attempt to use it on a piece because I’m afraid it will ruin my tumbler. Cannot imagine this would burnish anything.Packaging was flimsy and had a huge hole in both bags. The shot went everywhere when I opened the box.And read full description: this is PLATED.

Only buy if you have the patience to remove all of the rod pieces!
The ball bearings and little UFO things would work well to remove firescale but the rods are cut in such a way that leads them to be jagged and sharp. If you buy these to polish jewelry in between soldering, they will definitely scratch the metal. Leaving 2 stars because I had the patience to go through the thousands of tiny pieces to salvage the steel that won't mar my jewelry
