Q: Were is this product made?

I believe the box said it was made in China. I threw away the outer box and nothing is written on the tenderizer itself. In fact, the box was labeled Meet Tenderizer instead of Meat Tenderizer. I liked it so much I bought one for three other people. We got a laugh out of the "Meet" title but the product is very good. I do not know how long the needles remain sharp but the price is so good I will just buy another.

Q: How does this compare to the traditional hammer-like tenderizer?

The hammer-type tenderizers just flatten the meat with little muscle breakage. I think it's the muscle breakage that makes the meat tender. This tenderizer makes multiple cuts to the muscles in the meat and hence, tenderizes it without flattening it. This is the type professionals use for tenderizing. The hammer-type still has valid usages, like turning cuts of chicken breasts into flat portions for cutlets, and beef for the same.

Q: I personally do not like steak cook much more than medium rare, is there a problem with exterior bacteria being push into the meat with this product?

Yes there can be a problem. Any bacteria on the surface of the meat can be pushed into the center. Once you use the needles, for safety you should cook beef to 155. When you see the small print on menus about risk of undercooked meat causing illness, they are basically warning you if you want it rare, med rare it’s your risk. You should not serve meat undercooked to young children, the elderly, those with compromised immune system. I am in none of those categories and will eat rare to medium rare meat and have been fine, I accept my risk. I do not serve it under temp to my children.

Q: where is the cleaning brush? never receive the brush

The Brush is a very small brush. Mine came with it in the bag . I just clean mine by swishing it in very warm dish soapy water and then use the brush if I see anything still clinging. A very new Cheap Tooth brush would probably do just as well (if not better) and would not cost much.

THIS IS AWESOME

OMG this thing is awesome and I don't know why I have not heard about it before now. I can take some cheap steak and make it so tender. This is really easy to take apart and clean everything. Just please be careful as the tips of the blades are sharp. Sometimes I will just spary the blades with bleach, leave it for 5 minutes and then wash with soap and the brush.

Definitely sharp

Though I haven't used it on actual edible meat yet, it tenderized the heck out of my finger. I barely bumped it while putting it away and Holy cow, 5 holes right through my pinky finger! So if you are curious if it's sharp, the answer is YES!
