Review: The best The Funhouse has ever looked! - The Funhouse is known for its grit. That's probably what makes it so appealing to horror fans. However, it cleans up nicely for 4K. Though the picture quality is vastly improved, where it really shines is during the funhouse interiors. That's when the surround audio really comes into play. The packaging details the mix as mono. However, there was a 5.1 option on the disc menu, so surround audio elements were coming from my rear channels. Most notably during the scenes that took place inside the funhouse ride. Since the images are sharper than ever, some scenes felt "new" as if I hadn't seen them before. All around, it's a dark movie, but 4K has really brightened it up. The director commentary existed before on another issue of this film. During it, Hooper is just going through the motions with a moderator, so it's a little lacking. Granted this was before his passing, and maybe his memories of the movie were fuzzy at the time. If you are a Tobe Hooper fan, pick this up. You won't be disappointed. Also, get the latest 4K release of Poltergeist, his other directorial effort. It too looks the best in ages! Review: Incredible movie - This movie is amazing and a true classic of slasher history.
