The Arctic Railway Assassin: 6 (Adventures on Trains, 6)

A brilliant crescendo displaying everything fantastic that has become expected in this series. Another rise in danger and threat, and a broadening of the core cast. Coupled with a wonderful new setting and impeccable illustrations.This series has been bubbling along for what feels like a long time, but it is just the relentlessly consistent high expectations that have driven it to the front of so many reading lists. This final piece represents a real evolution and stretch in terms of danger and threat. Hal has been happily developing his own arc and growing as a character, leading me to fear that he was going to suffer an Alex Rider style comedown in his final outing as the realities of the adult world become to real. But this is a perfectly pitched and delivered ending and a fitting way to showcase some of the best detective writing around.

Love reading these with my son. They aren't available yet where we live, so this was a pleasant surprise.

This book gets a similar review from me as all the other books in the series. The stories are very interesting and contains some enticing anticipation moments. I really like the fact that they are based on real railway journeys, and real places. A small niggle is that the books do at times strike the tone, just a touch, of left-leaning political content and green/environmental nonsense, but if you can look past this than the whole series is a really great read. I read this entire series for my 13-year-old son who has autism.

My son has all the books in this collection and has thoroughly enjoyed them. A must for any train loving fan who doesn’t read as often.

My 8 year old loves reading stories from this series and is again looking for the next one!

A nice end to the series

Great story. Love travelling around the world with Hal and Nat. Can't wait for the next Adventure on a Train. Bring it on.
