Mg ex-s gundam is an excellent purchase
This model may be over 10 years old but the quality is still very good. The only negative thing are the red stickers that go on the wings. They're a bit cheap and can peel off at the edges. Red parts would have been much better.Ex-s gundam is huge. At about 30 runners, it comes in a very large box and can be compared to other massive kits like sazabi ver ka. The Ex-s is built directly onto a stand that holds it securely in both mobile suit and and g fortress mode. Multiples of different screws are required for assembly and the manual shows them in 1:1 scale, so using the right size screws isn't too confusing. Building it is also relatively straight forward if the instructions are carefully followed. When its completed this model will tower over most other mg kits. Its a good centerpiece due to its size and looks great in both modes. The ex-s is more of a display model because it needs to always be on the stand and articulation is somewhat limited, but not flawed. Also, the transformation is not really something you do on the fly.Ex-s gundam is for fans of massive, complex builds. It rewards you with a completed behemoth kit that looks fantastic and also gives the rest of your collection a slight inferiority complex.

A good 16 hours of painting and construction were put into ...
This will be the hardest mg you build. I've built over 50 different mg and this one completely took me by surprise. A good 16 hours of painting and construction were put into this guy and let me say every minute was well spent to see the final product. He towers over all gundam even unicorn and zeta and is a little bit taller than Sazabi great kit, a little intimidating with all the parts but a great challenge for all who call themselves gundam modelers this is a must buy

A fun build
First let me say i love the EX-S,it looks amazing and was a fun build.Pros-Looks amazing in your collection-The size,it will keep you busy for a while.-It comes with a stand(you build it on the stand!)Cons-It is a brick kit.The articulation is very little due to its size and fesign(but its a amazing looking brick)-The price is a little high but for the size, looks and fun build of the kit its worth it.

For those of you that do not know anything about Gundam anime here is a little info. Gundam is a Japanese giant robot sci-fi anime. Gundam's primary story line is set in the Universal Century timeline that represents a plausible future in a world where humans have colonized space. Spin off timelines were created but I don't know much about them. Gundam anime and mecha design is characterized by a more realistic feel. The giant robots do not posses supernatural power. They are typically just war machines that often get destroyed. Although some units stand out they all becomes obsolete as the timeline progresses. Now to the actual product review. The Ex-S is a beefed up version of the S Gundam. Ex-S is a play on the word excess. This guy is huge and a bit over the top. Looks amazing though. This is one of the larger MG kits in terms of price and size. The model was designed to permanently stay on its stand. You can take it off but it is not stable enough to support itself. You don't have to paint this guy. It comes with stickers and dry transfer decals. The pieces are color molded so major components are the correct color. Possibility is limited due to bulky armor. This guy was never meant to move like Jackie Chan... he has enough fire power to wipe you out from a distance. Kit can also be transformed into its waverider mode witch looks mean. The kit will take hours to build. The manufacturing tolerances are incredible. All pieces fit together very nicely. Pulling pieces apart once they are put together can be a real pain with this this kit so pay close attention to the instructions. The instruction manual is all in Japanese but they are so easy to follow you can't go wrong even if you can't read the text. Some more info: If you want the model to look like "real" you will need to paint it. Plastic looks a lot like... plastic... unless you paint it. If you are looking at getting into this as a hobby I recommend you get a good quality double action top feed airbrush. If building and painting is not something you feel like doing but you dig the design of this guy check out the Fix Figuration line from Bandai.
