DOES come with batteries.
Uses a little watch battery, not AAAs in the remote. Solid choice and size is perfect, like that theres no writing on it so it can apply to anything. Holds itself up but magnets leave much to be desired.

Doesn’t charge
only works if it’s plugged in. Will not hold a charge. Contacted Amazon and seller and was supposed to get a replacement. Still waiting with no response. It does work fine if plugged in but hard to plug in when your are using it outdooors

It's Junk
Digits dim at brightest setting. Could hardly see the blue. The remote is much to small. I was always hitting multiple buttons. When I did hit it right, it frequently incremented the score 2 digits instead of 1.

Good little tabletop scorekeeper and rechargeable !
I use this when playing straight pool. All I need is +1, or -1 and it works very well. The remote is rather small and an occasional sticky remote key , otherwise, I can use it with it's own internal rechargeable batteries. This is a very good feature-just set it down, turn it on, no need to plug it in!! I found one thing that does not seem to be mentioned in the included instructions. After I fully charged it and disconnected it from the power source, the remote would not turn it on. I was ready to return it as defective! I went online to find another one and then on one site I read about this switch on the side of the unit that must be turned on. I turned it on and now the remote works with it. None of that info was in the instructions. Other than small, sometimes sticky remote, I would recommend it.

Poor quality product
I purchased the digital scoreboard and was very with ease of use, size and portability. Unfortunately, the quality of the product did not meet expectations. The first one stopped working about 3 weeks after delivery. I contacted the company and they immediately sent a replacement. The on/off switch broke off leaving unserviceable.I do not recommend this product.
