I’ve always been very happy with Spectracide products, but not this one. I am on a budget but I like taking care of my landscape. I used this today for the first time. It will rain for the next 3 days it’s a nice day today, very gentle breeze, perfect time to apply I thought. I loaded my hand held broadcast spreader and started to apply. The gentle breeze took away about 15 percent of the product into the air. Because it was so powdery and it’s brown I couldn’t see what landed and I overcompensated and used the entire bag on 800 square feet, being used to all granules. I stopped and put on a mask but it was a very dusty job and my eyes hair and clothing were full of dust when I finished. This being weed KILLER I cleaned up afterwards. I’m no tree hugging environmentalist. Bugs and weeds need to go, but I also don’t want to overcompensate and overuse product or put myself at risk. I also want it underground quickly so squirrels and things aren’t foraging into this stuff. Spreaders have settings based on the size of the granules and this half being fine powder and half granules you can’t distribute it properly. I usually use weed and feed granules and I will go back to just that. Having said all of that the end result of weed prevention has yet to be determined but the product will likely deliver on that aspect.

I spread this using a hand-held spreader. Unlike Scots, I found it to be light weight and well separated so it did not cause the spreader to clog or to spread unevenly. The fact that it was light weight made using the hand-held spreader a breeze. I now know to prep the yard by pulling any tall weeds and mowing first. And now the yards are growing in weed free. I will say, though, that this is my third application of a weed killer. The first time I used the spray bottle (a royal pain to use, very few and very small droplets which are difficult to spread). Several weeks later, I used a Scotts turfbuilder product with weed killer and fertilizer using one of their broadcast spreader (also annoying to spread due to the product clumping, and it being difficult to see what I was putting down). I can't use that again for a month, but the weeds are back yet again. So, this time, I used the Spectracide in granule form. The grass seems to be growing in weed free. I wish that it came in bigger bags. I had to use of bag for the back yard and buy a 2nd bag for the front. I also wish that it could take out tall weeds and that it's ability to control the weeds lasted longer. I am happy to see that it does help with weeds without destroying the grass. Hopefully, we will be out of the weed growing phase here soon.

I applied this exactly as the instructions stated. It didn’t work. No noticeable change to the lawn at all and the weeds are still growing as if I hadn't applied this at all. Would not recommend.

I used this twice this summer once in the spring and once in autumn. Both times the results were noticeable within a week. We had massive strips of crab grass and many different kinds of dandelions, weeds, etc. all of them were gone by the end of the summer.. the large crab grass strips were hit again in the fall and they’re receding right now as a matter fact they’re all turning brown. I’m looking forward to using it again in the spring. The entire lawn has recover. This is a huge area, probably 50 yards x 30 yards so when it looks good, everyone really notices it.I like ordering it from Amazon because it tends to be out at the box stores and they pull it in late August so you can’t get any for your before winter application.I can recommend this.
