## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are they mounted against my socks, or on the front of my boot tongue? "Behind" could mean either side. Is there a video?**
A: Hi. These are meant to go between your shin/socks and the boot tongue. I have really skinny lower legs and have struggled with over buckling my boots. I now just slide these in before buckling, and have instant pressure on the tongue translating to better performance. I wish I discovered these 10 years ago.

I personally don’t leave them in the boots permanently. I just slide them in right before buckling.

**Q: Are these good for preventing shin bruising when snow skiing? I have a problem when snow skiing, where my shins get bruised from my ski boots**
A: Hi,

Thanks for reaching out! The Tongue Eliminator can help mitigate "shin bang" in a ski boot, but that is never guaranteed. There are many different reasons why a ski boot can cause a shin bang. Some of the most common reasons are:
 - mobile foot causing shin to move UP/DOWN in the boot
 - pronation that causes the shaft of the leg to rotate out of the critical comfort zone on the boot tongue
 - foot too high or too low in the boot shell causing the hinge point to be too high or too low
 - an upper cuff that is too loose causing the shin to slam into the shell instead of flexing the shell
 - and about half a dozen more causes

The Tongue Eliminator can solve about a third of those issues. For mobile feet and pronation issues, you need a custom insole to stabilize the foot, and for foot positioning, you need to have your foot and boot shell assessed to see if adding a shim or shaving away part of the boot board will position your ankle better with respect to the hinge point of the ski boot.

I would look at the Tongue Eliminator as an inexpensive experiment to see if the issue is resolved. But long-term solutions always come the hard way—that is, by finding a knowledgeable boot fitter, getting an assessment, and working through the fit issues.

Best,
Masterfit

**Q: I wear a 24 ski boot. Will a large be too big?**
A: Yes, the large would be too big. I am in a 24.5 and I have the small Masterfit Eliminators.
