Chemical Dance Culture Test 1: Phuturistic Trance

I love this cd and it is extremely difficult to find this sort of music in the U.S.A.This music is not exactly trance. It is a side-project produced by famous British Happy Hardcore producers. If only the cd had advertised this, I am sure it would not have disapointed the two previous reviewers.If you are expecting Tiesto trance, or Paul Oakenfold trance... you will be disapointed.This music is extremely fast, hardcore actually, and has a lot of very fast "acid" sounds. It is sort of like instrumental versions of the music from the happy2bhardcore series, only without pianos and without singing.The cd booklet inside suggests that indeed these Happy Hardcore producers were attempting to steer the dancefloor in a new direction... trying to push happy hardcore into a more minimal direction without the pianos.If you are a passionate happy hardcore follower I strongly recommend this album because it shows you where happy hardcore could have gone... and did in fact go (called freeform). I don't think this sound ever caught on, but I am living in Arizona, so it is hard to know really what was going on in the UK during 1997, when this cd was produced.If you are one of the hardcore producers of this album reading this, I love your music and your imagination. Hardcore will never die! :)

The music itself would give the album 2 to 3 stars, but since I got this for a penny(plus s&h), it's a solid 3-star rating. It's not all mixed together, as I would have hoped. "Test" in the CD's name tells you the quality you should expect. It's fun to listen to once in a while, but if you have to pay alot for it, don't get it, look for another trance CD.

I have listened to the entire CD, and I felt like I was listening to almost the same song over and over. Not the best techno I have listened to, but I give it three stars.
