Great in getting dog's attention when the unit works
UPDATE 2/21/14: I've ordered two more of these as backups. Neither of them has worked. So, there is a quality control issue. If you get one that works, it deserves five stars. There's nothing on the unit itself that lets you know it is working or not. No light comes on. Nothing. The only way I can tell is by seeing the dog's immediate reaction or, with the unit that works, hearing a slight high pitched sound when I hold it up to my ear a second after speaking into it. I lowered the rating from five stars to three stars because of the quality control issue. I recently ordered another attention getting device Pet Parade Dog Repeller and Training Aid as a back up, and it works great.-----This is magic for us. Our dog gets so involved with his barking that he doesn't pay attention when we call him. But, he hears this. Even when he is barking much farther than the range of this, I simply speak into the grill work (about 2" away) and say, "Come". He turns around and comes. You can hear a slight high pitched sound when you speak into it. So, it reacts to your voice.I'm not sure how it works as a bark inhibitor, but it is great as a dog caller. Sometimes we don't even have to turn it on. He sees it as we are carrying it, and comes. It has become the signal for him to stop what he's doing and come. He's a big dog, 90 lbs., and would not always come when we called before we got this. Now he comes every time and at a reasonable pace. He doesn't run, but he comes directly. We've had this over a year, and it is still working good--with only one battery change. Though, we only have it on for 10 to 15 seconds at a time various times in a day.For us, it's worth its weight in gold. In fact, I'm ordering another just to make sure we have a back up when this one quits.

DON'T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. NEVER EVER LEAVE IT ON.
Id give this 5 stars but only for how I use the device: as a momentary correction or deterrent from unwanted behavior. It CAN'T be used as the product is described. They say to leave the device on at all times and it will deter barking. But the device doesn't distinguish between barking our a person saying hello or normal environmental noses, so you dog is CONSTANTLY ATTACKED with the ultrasonic noise. It's torture. Someone at a party was curious and played with my new Bark off and set it down without turning it off. I found my dog cowering in the laundry room shaking uncontrollably. I couldn't figure out what was wrong but then I saw the Bark Off & turned it off and he slowly recovered. The poor dog was traumatized. I was horrified. I'd give no stars except that when I carry the Bark off with me and turn it on just long enough to say "STOP!", it works brilliantly when nothing else does. Now I can sometimes just say the word BARK OFF without using it and he is conditioned to obey. So I can't completely discount the usefulness of the device. Just DON'T EVER leave it on like they say.

Worked for my dog
Seems like people either hate this or love it. My dog (90 pounds) would go nuts everytime a loud motorcycle or car drove past my house. He ripped the screen in the window and has scratched the wood work. A friend told me about this and let me borrow his. Immediately it went to work. Now when a loud vehicle drives by, my dog runs to the window, gives one loud bark and stops, I can live with that. It's great. However, he still jumps up and puts his paws on the windiw sill. I'm going to put double sided tape on the wood and hope that when he "sticks' to the wood, it will stop that. I bought one for myself, but wish I would have bought a couple for different areas of my house, but I'll do that with my next Amazon order. The battery I installed lasted about two weeks, no complaints there. There's really no low battery indicator, so I just pick it up, bark into it and can tell if it's still working. If you hold it right up to your ear, you can hear the high pitch squeal. I would recommend it.UPDATE: June 22, 2016: I just got on line to buy another for our patio room. I was shocked at the price of $10.95 each. Earlier this year I paid $4.96 each. One of the original ones started acting up by emitting high pitch static but the other is working well. I was able to find a two pack for about $7 plus $4 shipping. So I bought those, even though the two pack was not a "prime" item, even with me paying for the shipping, it was much cheaper than buying two of the ones that were "prime". I' really starting to doubt that prime membership is worth the $100 a year. Seems that I can get the same item, pay shipping and it's still cheaper than the prime price and I didn't have to pay $100. Seems that Amazon has reeled the consumer in with great deals and now that we have become accustomed to it, they now add in the price of the shipping to the product. I'm really going to think about renewing my prime membership when it expires. Do I really need two day shippimg? Probably not, if I need an item that fast, I would simply drive to the store and buy it. Come on Amazon....people are not as stupid as you think we are.

Waste of money
Don't see any reaction in my dogs to this device. More than that, you can't even tell if the battery is gone or not because there is no on and off led light or something that could tell you "hey! this is still working" A waste of money

this thing is garbage
This thing is a farce. My dogs do not react in any way. Don't waste your money.

Dans notre cas, ça ne fonctionne pas. Notre chien continue de japper malgré le son désagréable de l'appareil.

Waste of Money
This product was a total waste of money, as it is ineffective if you have any other sort of noise (phone ringing, TV, music, too loud talking), and it just constantly goes off, which causes confusion. And yes, it does make a high pitch noise that is audible to humans, and very uncomfortable to the ears! So, if it's even higher pitched for dogs, it's likely very uncomfortable for them, so not surprised to read about dogs hiding in the corner, etc. :(This might be effective if you have a very quiet home, I'm not sure, but if you have a busy household, save your money, as the dogs will keep on barking after they notice that everything makes the darn thing off.
