I have 5 giraffe hose reels and they are fantastic! The self retracting reel is super convenient and simple to use. The 5/8 inch hose models have higher water flow as you would expect and the 1/2 inch 155 footers are super useful for covering long distances. One of my reels got stuck, I emailed Giraffe, they responded immediately and asked for a video showing the issue and my address. They sent me an entirely new unit next day delivery. Great product and great support!

I needed a new reel hose for my front and backyard. I even thought of putting one of these on the side of my house as well. I decided to purchase 2 of these after doing tons of research. They were both very easy to install. Within 2 months of very moderate use, a pin size hole developed in the hose and it was shooting out a very thin stream of water which was quite annoying. I purchased a roll of flex tape and wrapped it up. Within days, 5 more pin sized holes developed and now when I use this thing, it’s like a soaker hose except I’m the one getting soaked. The hose in the backyard is doing the same thing. Now I have drilled holes in my brick walls to install both these and now the hoses are completely ruined. I would even consider replacing the hoses but I don’t know how to do that. I love the concept of an automatic hose reel so I would even consider buying a different brand, but I will have to obviously drill a different set of holes in my brick to install their base and I’m not thrilled about that. I am extremely disappointed in this product times two. If anyone knows a quality automatic hose reel I can purchase, I would love a good recommendation. The Giraffe brand just didn’t work out for me.

Hose reel works great. Perfectly solves the dreaded rolling of the hose back up.Design flaw - the feeder hose from the bib to the reel is on the side of the reel. If it was on the back side or underneath the box, then I could swivel the box to sit flush against my house. The mounting bracket allows the box to swivel both ways to 180 degrees. Being that the inlet hose is on the side of the box, prohibits the box from sitting flush against the house. Turning it to One side makes the feeder hose bind against the house. turning it to the other side puts enough tension on the box/swivel that the box has a tendency to pull from the wall. That leaves the box hanging straight from the wall sticking out about 2’ when not being used.Not a deal breaker but something to consider when buying. I working on a way to secure it to the wall flush using a basic fence L bracket.Hose quality: the hose is not as rigid as you would expect from a 115’ 5/8” hose. Not what I expected but it makes sense because there's so much hose to reel up. Because it’s not as rigid, I don’t expect the hose to last as long as I hope it will, because once it breaks the entire box will be trash.It is nice that it can be easily disconnected from the mount so I can store it in the winter. And it is no where near as heavy as I expected.

When I say I research products before I buy, that’s a huge understatement! I looked everywhere at everything single hose reel offered before settling on this one. I can say my diligence paid off and the best choice was made! Saves a great deal of time when watering the lawn and so convenient. No more dragging around the hose. Such an organized and clean look when not in use.The only complaint I have if there is one is the hose itself. Par for the course being a 5/8 hose. It’s easy to move around being a 5/8 hose, but does kink if your stretched across the yard and make a twist or turn.I can stretch the hose all the way out and it is strong enough to retract! DO NOT LET GONIF THE HOSE!!!! It will reel in quick.BUY THE 5/8 HOSE, NOT THE 1/2”. Wish they made it in a thicker hose even.I expect this reel to last for years! Quality is top notch and even though the mount is plastic it is of great quality and holds the reel secure. No wobbling or play. Simple to instal and easy to store away for the winter.I 100% recommend this product.
