Amplifier connection use iphone 4. now have iphone x. can i use this to connect to amplifier?

I use this to connect my iPhone to my car which has a 30-pin connector. It works great for music and charging.

What is the length of the cable? The description suggests a total product length of 2.76 inches, but that is shorter than the cable on my orig product

The cable is about 6 inches in length and works as described by the manufacturer.

Will this transfer music from ipad to old ipod?

I don’t think using this item to connect an iPod to an iPad will work. You could try signing into the same Apple account on your iPod and iPad, open the iTunes on the iPad - tap “Purchased” then “Not on this iPad”, you should be able to see purchases songs and download them to the iPad.

Why don't the iphone volume buttons work when this cable is used, audio is very muted. are there iphone settings to adjust or is this a cable issue

iPhone settings do not need to be adjusted. Volume is controlled by the phone volume settings or other volume control such as a connection to a car radio (or both).
