Very potent effects. Injury recovery verses erection quality.
This is one of the most potent and powerful supplements I have ever encountered. I took this supplement for approximately 2 months. During that time I noticed several positive and negative effects; To begin I am a 28 year old man. In my experience this supplement will alter skin complexion and tone to be warmer and also reduce wrinkles somewhat. The main reason I began exploring Astaxanithin was to reduce inflammation and pain in my back that resulted from a torn rhomboid muscle and degradation of the underlying bursa beneath the shoulder blade. Astaxanthin is incredibly effective with soft tissue recovery and injury. During the course of use I rapidly felt my pain and weakness go into remission, further I began to gain muscle volume and size across my body. Overtime i felt myself becoming very aggressive socially - not in a completely negative way. A final positive; my hair began growing more thickly. Unfortunately I began to develop difficulty attaining and sustaining an erection and also began feeling tenderness in my pectoral muscles and nipples. these two things were enough to make me discontinue use. It has been over a year since I used the product and I feel I have completely recovered from the negative effects of the Astaxanthin. Further I feel that I have retained some degree of resistance to inflammation. My original injury is vastly more manageable. I feel this is a quality supplement but it is essential to understand it is not to be used trivially. It is absolutely effective and potent but like many substances it is a double edged sword. Sports Research has yet to lead me astray. Please be careful - particularly if you are a young man like myself. Young women may have more flexibility to the hormonal effects but that is just speculation on my part im not a doctor.

Well made, easy to take small softgel
Everything is clearly labeled and described. Definitely a high quality source and minimal other ingredients to make this convenient to use and to protect the super nutrient content. I am a user of this natural ingredient already and this quality matches what I am accustomed to even when I swapped to this brand to try. Size of gel capsule is not as small as tiny vit A or small D type ones but still smaller and glides well to swallow. The astaxanthin is well protected as the layer seems thick, but otherwise the shell of the gel cap is similar to many supplements (a standard type). For me astaxanthin is a wonderful supplement overall as I heavily monitor my health with devices and find once I take astaxanthin consistently over a few weeks, my general health "markers" I look watch generally shifts a little into the range I am trying to hit (per recommendations from my medical practitioners). I swapped this brand for about 1 week and it was as effective as another organic item and a back up natural item I have been taking at the same doses. I have seen this brand's products before and notice the higher quality ingredients on label. So the price may be slightly higher but it seems very fair and reflective of what they strive to guarantee.

Astaxanthin... Where Have You Been All My Life?
My mom, husband, and I have been taking this for 3 weeks now. We all felt noticeable difference after just one week of use. Eye strain decreased. Dry eyes significantly decreased. My husband had lasik a couple of years ago that left him with severely dry eyes. Since then, he has to constantly put in lubricating drops, and routinely get his eye drains plugged, and his tear ducts expressed. The doctor told him to increase his Omega-3 intake. He does all this consistently without much relief. And all this is exacerbated by his desk job where he is in front of multiple computer screens all day long. My mom just happened to hear about Astaxanthin on a TV show and thought of us because both my husband and I had lasik (though I don't have dry eye problems but I also work in front of a computer). She told us to try it. We were skeptical but after just one week, my husband came to me and said "Did you notice that I barely have to use eye drops now?" I said "Wow. My eyes don't feel as tired after a full day's work!" We asked my mom and she says her eyes feel better too! She wears glasses all day and just felt her eyes were feeling old, tired, and heavy. But not any more. I've never really felt such noticeable and immediate change/improvement after taking a dietary supplement. I usually take my vitamins with a leap of faith. But not this. We are sold. We quickly ordered another 2 bottles and put this product on Subscribe N Save so that we will never run out. The Sport Research brand seems to be good and clean. I take several of their other products (turmeric curcumin and grass-fed collagen peptides) and like them as well. I would recommend both Astaxanthin and the Sport Research brand.

This is the real deal. Supplements are no joke.
When I was first offered Astaxanthin at the Fit Expo, I was a guy who didn't take any form of supplements (even protein). I didn't want to take supplements not because I was against them, I just wanted to be "unique" and push myself to reach my goals WITHOUT using supplements. However, I found myself hitting a wall, plateauing often because of the limitations of not being able to recover. I go very hard at the gym because I was motivated to outwork and outperform people who were using supplements. After many instances of battling the temptation of experimenting with supplements (and then going to the Fit Expo), I decided to just go all in and give it a try. That's when I experienced a drastic shift in my results. I didn't get HUGE overnight, but what I did experience was higher levels of efficiency. My body was able to process and synthesize stress more effectively and was just able to recover much quickly overall. The studies of improved endurance and all of that was more than just placebo lol, I could actually feel it. But yeah when I was given that free bottle of Astaxanthin, I was very skeptical because I thought to myself, what the hell is this? I can't even pronounce the name. I thought it was some lab made drug, but after looking into it more, I realized it's a pretty natural (not synthetically made). It's a form of nutritional supplement you could say (which I'm more fond of than the lab made ones). I experienced a drastic difference in my body's adaptation to stress. I can say with confidence my CELLS worked better. My levels of soreness were heavily diminished, even after very very heavy weights. That's when I knew, supplements are about efficiency and optimization, and what allows serious athletes to take it to the next level. My favorite supplements are Spirulina, Chlorella, Astaxanthin, and then Whey Protein. Anything else is supplementary/bonus.

12mg per Single Veggie Softgel
There are so many potential benefits from Astaxanthin that you absolutely must read up on this supplement. My wife started taking this after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Astaxanthin is supposed to help slow the growth of breast and skin cancer cells. It also helps with heart disease, macular degeneration, and healthy skin. Astaxanthin is also beneficial in protecting your kidneys from the damage caused by diabetes. There are so many other up-sides to this supplement that I simply can’t name them all here. Sports Research brand of Astaxanthin is made from the real stuff – microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. Each veggie softgel contains 12mg of Astaxanthin! Compare this to the other brands and you’ll find that the quality, quantity, and price are well represented in this product. My wife has been taking this supplement for about 3 months now and she’s saying that she’s starting to feel better. What that means, when I ask her, she can’t quite put her finger on – yet. She says she’s sleeping better and she thinks her skin and eyes are better than before. This may not be too scientific, but the best endorsement is always from a person who has nothing to gain from promoting a product or service. So far so good. A great product at a good price with top quality astaxanthin – 12mg of it per single veggie softgel dose! Photo: Sports Research Krill (L) & Sports Research Astaxanthin (R)

incredible stuff
This is the supplement I will not go without. I am a tennis professional by trade, and I'm constantly exposed to sun, physical stress, and my sport requires perfect eye sight for optimal performance. This antioxidant is the most effective remedy I've used for all three of the above-mentioned needs. 1) I can literally go without sunscreen for hours longer if I take a 12mg dose of astaxanthin. As a sunscreen, I have tested it on myself extensively and I know it works. 2) Joint pain and muscle fatigue are significantly reduced. I can be on my feet for many hours straight and not experience back fatigue that used to be quite severe. I only have the back a muscle fatigue on long days when I forget to take this stuff. 3) And here's the big one: I used to have to wear glasses at night to play tennis and I no longer have to. My night vision is massively improved. In addition, I used to have to skip using my tablet after work as my eyes would be so tired I couldn't focus well. That literally never happens since taking this. Sorry if it sounds hyperbolic or too good to be true, but this has been my honest experience with this supplement over the past 2 years. I haven't even mentioned that my crow's feet are almost gone as well....it does so much, it's more of a youth pill than a targeted supplement. It protects you from UV, improves muscle and eye performance, makes you look younger...one of the few supplements I'm pledging to take for the rest of my life.

So far, we're very, very satisfied--extremely rare for our experience of supplements
We've only just begun using this product, so cannot write confidently about the effects on our health. However, I've used eye glasses since high school, and long hours working with sensitive equipment in a lab and pouring over journals' fine print on tablets and in our library daily over many years have taken their toll on my sight. Over the past five years my vision had gotten increasingly blurry, with minute but definite eye strain related pain enduring for longer and longer stretches every day, especially after waking up. My physician and my optometrist both tell me my eye health if fine, but the waning performance of my sight "should be expected" due to genetic, environmental (work), and age-related factors. Expecting another 30-40 years of work with progressively debilitating eye sight presented me a horrify prospect. Then I read a few peer reviewed papers on astaxanthin's potential efficacy in mitigating some sight related disorders, and though I loathe spending money on supplements (because there are so many that are nonetheless poorly tested, if at all; and because there is very little regulation of the industry or protection of consumers), I decided to give astaxanthin a shot, desperate for anything that would alleviate the mounting pain just behind my eyes. It was important to our family to choose a product that was, at least on face value (from what we could read about product contents), consistent with dosage and chemical identity with what published studies had researched. We were surprised to find most astaxanthin marketers apparently don't feel similarly about the products they offer. It was no less important to our family to support a business that does not package their supplements in gelatin, or use any other animal byproducts in their products. And, of course, we wanted a product that provided value for our investment dollar. We've been very happy that Sports Research has satisfied all these criteria. From what I've read, it should take three months of consistent use for our family to be able to detect significant effects from this product. Though this may be too early to report, after about a week of using this product I already feel significantly diminished pain in my eyes. Nothing else in my diet or daily regimen has changed, other than my also relying much less on Ibuprofen for pain relief. Whereas previously I woke with blurred vision and persistent percussion behind my eyes, now I wake without pain or distortion. And this has been consistent over the past three days. I'd be satisfied if this were the only effect of taking this astaxanthin supplement (at a single 12 mg capsule once per day). I'll update this review if any major changes arise going forward, but so far I'm very happy with the product. It's exceedingly rare, for me at least, that a supplement produces any discernible effects. Special thanks to Sports Research for its ethical, humane product encapsulation. Had they chosen gelatin or any other animal-derived component to accompany their astaxanthin, our family would have had to purchase another brand's product, and possibly miss out on the benefits already mentioned. Lastly, in the spirit of transparency, I disclose that Sports Research offered our family a small product incentive to write a review on Amazon, but they did not stipulate the review had to be positive. Also, our family has been approached before by companies offering us products in exchange for reviews, but we've never before felt comfortable writing a review for any incentive, as we heavily rely on honest, unbiased Amazon reviews to help us decide whether to invest in products we buy on Amazon and even elsewhere. I chose to write this review because I'm frankly very impressed so far with this product's price, ethical composition, and apparent effectiveness at significantly diminishing my eye strain--which is the reason I sought out astaxanthin in the first place.

Would not recommend.
Was on the 3rd bottle and started experiencing stomach issues. This made my stomach bloated and it became uncomfortable to want to deal with. I have stopped taking it and feel better. It took a good 2 weeks before I felt normal again. I will stick to just COQ10. Also, my skin never changed to any darker color.
