Handy pump for transferring water out of tanks.
Worked great for what I wanted it for so far. I bought this unit because I have a rather large fish tank that houses a turtle. Consequently I have to change ALL the water often. I've tried pumps I got at the fish store but found them ineffiecient, especially the one that you hook to your hose and run the water to create suction. Wastes a lot of additional water with the water in the tank. I bought this to be able to empty as much water from the tank as possible in a reasonable time. With the suction plate that it comes with, I get nearly all the water out of the tank in a reasonable amount of time. I've used it on my tank and my pond that I temporarily keep the turtle during cleanings and had no issues. It is a bit noisy in that it whines, but most pumps of this style make similar noise, and its only on for the short time needed to empty each. As for durability, only time will tell. My guess is that those that had issues didn't lubricate the impellor before use as directed. When dry, like when it's not primed, the impeller can heat up quickly. This isn't a problem once the fluid is flowing, but while first sucking up the fluid without being primed it will heat up quickly and probably deform since the impellor appears to be plastic or rubber.

THE REAL DEAL ALL THE WAY AROUND
My water pump that I had purchased a little while back died out on me and thankfully I had boughten a warranty coverage at purchase, customer support was EXTREMELY helpful and got a new pump sent out right away that works MARVELOUSLY! Thank you so much Acquaer! 10/10

A Must Have for Serious Aquarist!
I gave it a 4-star because it doesn't have an on/off switch, you have to plug/unplug, but outside of that, for nearly 10 years I went back and forth with a bucket to the toilet ... but I wanted a 100gal tank and I knew i couldn't be doing that at 60 - my kids watch me with wonder each week as I clean the tanks. People love aquariums but don't want to do the work, its intimidating. Finally I found this pump. The only advice I ever get is from my neighborhood Asian store and Youtube videos. This was a good buy .. I bought a 50ft water hose, and I water my plants front and back with the water.. My 45gal tank is for small fish who WONT STOP HAVING BABIES .. so I can't use for that tank because I don't want them to get sucked-up, but the 55 and 100 gal. tanks are no problem. Water flows good, a little noisy but no big deal, price is cheap compared to convenience. Go ahead, buy it!

The pump stopped working after 5 minutes of pumping
UPDATED 2/7/2023: The credit for this refund showed up today on my actual credit card. End of story. UPDATED 2/6/2023: The return shipment finally moved on Feb. 2 and confirmed delivered on Feb. 3. Still no refund. And the Return Status on Amazon.com doesn't show any progress since dropping off the return, still shows status as "Return Requested". This is highly unusual and somewhat shady. UPDATED 1/31/2023: The return shipment arrived at a UPS facility at 9:15pm on Jan. 25 and apparently hasn't moved since. I'm still waiting for my refund. UPDATE 1/25/2023: I've returned the pump since the motor no longer worked. Oddly, when I dropped off the item and they scanned the Amazon return code, the receipt I got from UPS did not include an actual UPS tracking number, only some "reference code". that's never happened before, makes me nervous. As things stand now, the pump is not functioning at all when I plug it in. On my first use I added water to the inlet, connected the inlet strainer to the inlet hose, filled the inlet hose with water before connecting it to the pump to help the initial flow, connected a hose to the outlet. I then plugged in the pump and saw very strong flow to start. It looked like everything was working really well. The problem is that the pump shut itself off after about only 5 minutes of pumping water. The elevation of the inlet strainer is about 2 feet lower than the end of the outlet hose, so there's very little gravity for the pump to fight against. As it stands right now I tried unplugging the pump, letting it rest for 10 min, then plugging in again. No change. I'll try to let it rest for longer, maybe a couple of hours, then try again. If something changes I'll add to this review. As things stand now, this has been a very bad product that I would not recommend.

Works as intended, but.....
This pump does what it says it does, but look at the 1/10 HP and be sure that's what you need. It is very slow, kind of like a small pond fountain. It's not even as fast as a garden hose connected to our house's hose bib. Not great for transferring large amounts of water quickly at all.

Efficient cute little pump
This is a very good and cute little pump. Right size for watering lawn and garden from a rain barrel. It pretty low decibel at the same time gives a different sound when the barrel is almost out of water. You can use it to transfer water from in barrel (with down spouts) to a stand alone barrel. It is very light to attach it to a wooden board. It’s not a submersible pump so be very careful before starting the pump. Also you need to prime it with 2-3 tsp’s of water. Very easy and simple to use it. It took this motor 10-12 min to empty a 50 gal barrel. I highly recommend this product to other shoppers.

After the first prime, this little pump always pumps which is important because we use it to pump water for our stock on our farm, running it from the battery on the pickup truck. Provides a stream of water as strong as what we get from the taps in the house. An amazing little unit, very impressive, would absolutely recommend.

Was very surprised by the size(quite small) of this transfer pump. It works very well, very easy to start and does an extremely good job Pleased with purchase and would buy from this seller again.

The pump itself works fine, but it’s somewhat complicated to set up. As it turned out, it was too complicated for me and I sent the product back. It might be useful for other applications, but I was using it for small amounts of water in water features and fountains.
