Evenflo GoTime LX Booster Car Seat (Astro Blue)

My son is 5.5 years old, 44 inches tall, and 49 pounds. He still rides in a 5-point harness in Mom and Dad’s cars, but we purchased this high-back booster for occasional use with a babysitter, Uber rides, and emergencies. Most of the time it will be used for short trips, such as a five-minute drive to the park with the babysitter. At his age, he is not ready to use a booster full-time or for long road trips because he cannot consistently maintain the proper seated posture required for safe booster use. However, I was also concerned about a babysitter incorrectly installing a harnessed car seat, since she doesn’t regularly install car seats. In my opinion, a properly used booster is safer than an improperly installed harnessed seat, so this was the option that made the most sense for our situation. One thing I would caution parents about is height. My son is exactly at the minimum height requirement of 44 inches, and even at that height he is using the lowest headrest setting. If he slouches, the belt fit is not quite where it should be. I would definitely make sure your child meets the height requirement before purchasing, because I don’t think this seat would work well for a child who is any shorter and without me positioning him to make sure his hips are all the way back the belt still does not fit him right because he is the bare minimum height. The seat is lightweight, easy to move between vehicles, and would be convenient for travel. The high-back portion detaches easily when needed, and the height adjustment is simple to use. The cover also appears easy to remove for cleaning. My biggest complaint is that there is a designated spot under the seat for the instruction manual, but no clip or compartment to actually secure it the strap used in only booster seat mode. I ended up taping the seatbelt strap underneath because I was worried about losing it for future use when converting the seat form a high back booster to just a booster seat. Another thing to note is that the seat arrives unassembled. This is the first car seat I’ve purchased that required assembly. Some of the plastic pieces fit together very tightly, and I needed my son’s dad to help finish putting it together. I was honestly more worried about breaking something than lacking the strength to do it myself but it was difficult to assemble one piece because of how tight it was. The padding is fairly minimal, and once the headrest is raised, some hard plastic becomes more exposed. For short trips this isn’t an issue, but when my son eventually transitions to a booster full-time, I will probably invest in a more heavily padded model for longer road trips. Overall, this is a good budget-friendly high-back booster for occasional use, travel, babysitters, and backup situations. Just pay close attention to the height requirements and make sure your child is truly ready for booster use. This might be a great cheap option for you too if your child is on the verge of using a high back booster and you don’t want a babysitter installing a five point harness wrong or even worried about a babysitter mistreating or not appropriately cleaning and destroying your very expensive almost $500 five point harness car seat! Haha!

Great booster, in more pieces than a regular car seat. Directions are easy to follow. Nice head control. Seems safe and comfy!

We bought it for traveling. Although it's not compact it was very easy to travel with. Lightweight. Easy installation in rental cars.

It’s lightweight, easy to assemble! I gave 4 stars only because sometimes the lap part of the seatbelt goes over the arm rest which I think isn’t as secure, so we have to pay extra attention that it loops UNDER the arm rest. Maybe should have made them a tad taller? Also the shoulder part of the seatbelt slides out of the part it goes through very easily. I’m huge on car safety so I wish these were designed a tad better. But in general yes this booster seat is a great value for the price. I’m happy with my purchase.

I love this care seat. So much easier to get in and out of my car. It was a little tricky to put together but I made it through and love it

Great little booster seat I like the high back and that it can be removed. I wish it had a better anchor to the seat though because it knocks off the seat easily

This is so cheaply made and it is very hard keeping it on the seats. There was no toggle clip to clip it to the seat

This booster seat is just OK. As a seat alone, it is fine- the height isn't too high, it has cup holders, the fit is good. The back is ridged, straight back plastic, which is very uncomfortable. Once the back pieces are snapped together, they can't be taken apart without damaging the plastic. Seat belt placement is fine. Booster cover material is good.
