Lightly grease a non-stick board with Trex or other white fat or shortening and roll out Mexican paste very thinly. (Other pastes may be used but I find Mexican to be the best as it doesn't stretch too much, can be rolled thinly and doesn't dry out too quickly) Very lightly dust the top surface of your paste with Cornflour (cornstarch) a tip here is to put the flour into a muslin cloth and simply wipe across the top surface - that way you don't get too much onto the paste. Press the tappit set firmly onto the paste ensuring that you press all areas of the cutter. 'Flick' the cutter off the paste by placing a fingernail under one end and lifting rapidly. The paste should remain on the board. Carefully peel away the excess paste leaving your required letters or shapes. Lift the cut shapes with a palette knife and fix in position with a little edible glue. As with Patchwork cutters the paste can be coloured before cutting out, painted or dusted with lustre colours before fixing in position. You may need to practice a little to get the thickness of the rolled paste just right - it needs to be thin enough the cut through but be thick enough to allow the detail on the cutters to show.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS ZERO STARS I WOULD!
I am an experienced baker and have worked with all forms of alphabet cutters before, including Tappits. This set is just terrible & CANNOT be used. I have used confectionary sugar, corn starch, even frozen my gum paste/sugarpaste template to no avail. The letters simply will not come out of this cutter. Trust me - SAVE YOUR MONEY!

These are awlful!
I refused to show any image, because there wasn't any. The letters are beautiful, but, to cut and stretch them were the worst. They alphabets should be separated. Wouldn't recommend these at all!
