We've had two of these units in our house now since December 2019 -- almost 5 years! We burn a wood stove for heat all winter, our summers are dry and dusty, spring is full of pollen. My husband has allergies to dust, pollen, and dander -- I'm bothered by smoke -- and having these little workhorses around (we have two) has made a tremendous difference. They hum along at a steady pace day and night and alert us when air quality is getting poor. They've done triple duty on multiple occasions when wildfire smoke was so bad, we were advised to stay inside for days. They worked HARD hour after hour, and we felt safer, knowing they were doing their job. I'm not typically a review writer, but I was so impressed when I wrote to the company this month after one of our units began acting funny. They immediately responded with incredibly clear, easy instructions for fixing the problem, and my unit is now back to doing its job. We use them every day and I've only had to change the filters 2x since we bought them. (Did I mention we also have a dog?) Cannot say enough good things about this product or the company's customer service.

This is working as it claims. I bought this because it also has the ionizer. I use it in my bedroom that has a bathroom attached. I typically wake with congestion headaches from swollen sinuses. I bought to try and minimize that. It hasn't minimized the headache frequency. To note, I have 2 pets and carpet in that room. I am not allergic to anything, but have non-allergic rhinitis. What I've noticed with using this now for a couple months is: 1) it's quiet when it's low. But when the next speed kicks in, it can be loud enough to be annoying especially at night. 2) mine stays on low 98% of the time. Even with windows open it has stayed low - but windows arent open much. It will kick in higher if I use any aerosol in the bathroom/bedroom. It will kick in for only a few second or maybe a minute then go back to low. So it is working and sensing the air quality. I had contractors repairing some remodeling in the bathroom and it kicked into high most of the time they were here. They were using sprays that had odors, but I didn't smell it in the house and it didn't last long smelling in the room once they stopped. 3) Ionizer - unfortunately I should have done more research on ionizers. This works as designed, but it aggravated my asthma. I found myself waking up with my chest tight and couldn't take deep breaths. Once I turned off the ionizer, I was fine. Do your research on ionizers before buying them thinking they are helping your air. Its believed they produce ozone also. Given the reaction my lungs had, I won't ever use the ionizer again. It wasn't until I specifically researched asthma & ionizers did I find that info. This products works as advertised. Just be sure you research all the possible health effects.

I ordered this because I live in an area that was experiencing wildfires and the air quality was really bad. Another reviewer mentioned that this worked well for her when wildfires were in her area. It came quicker than promised during a time when local stores were sold out of air purifiers! I also suffer from bad allergies during the warmer months and thought this could help a lot. It was very easy to setup. When we received it, the air quality was in the high 300s outdoors, which is hazardous. I was surprised to see that my indoor air quality was actually in the 500s when I plugged this in, but it managed to reduce it down below 50 in less than an hour and within two hours it was keeping it at 20 or below. Our area is currently smoke-free, but we leaving this run full-time and love it. I believe it is supposed to do 200 sq. ft., but we live in a small trailer that is probably 500 sq. ft. or less and it appears to be doing the whole place. I've moved it into the end bedroom and turned it on to see what the air quality level was. It's nice that I don't have to move it around or order a second one. Also, when I cook (since I have this sitting in my living room and my kitchen is also right there) I noticed that the fan speed automatically increases when needed and it helps clear out cooking odor fast. I really like that. Beyond that, we are breathing better indoors and we noticed that the air smells better/cleaner. We do have a dog and live in an old place that definitely gets dusty quickly.

Over the last three years, I found myself sick every December as the Christmas holidays approached. It would begin with mild symptoms that seemed to get worse each day until I was feeling utterly miserable. Each year, the symptoms seemed to come on faster and more intensely. I began to suspect that it was due to our live Christmas tree, as when I went outside or was away from the house for a few hours, my symptoms would improve. I did some research and learned that Christmas tree allergies are pretty common, and that most of the time the allergy is actually an allergy to mold spores. There was no visible mold on the trees, but mold grows on all dead plant matter, and once "live" Christmas trees are cut, they are dead. Once in the warm air of the home, the mold spores multiply rapidly and after a few days the air inside the home has high levels of spores. That was why I chose this filter - because it said that the UV light would destroy mold spores in the air. It totally worked! We waited until just a couple days before Christmas to get our tree, just in case the filter didn't work. We set up the tree in our living room, and set the filter nearby (about 10' away). We also hung an evergreen garland on our indoor stair railing. Each day, I found that no allergies were developing! We ended up leaving the tree up for nearly two weeks, just to test it out and see whether there would be any allergic reaction. Nothing! Hooray! Now in future years, our family can go back to enjoying a live tree throughout the holiday season! We keep the unit set on "auto", which means that the fan speed adjusts depending upon the air quality. Most of the time our air is very clean and the fan stays on the "1" speed which is essentially silent - you can hear it slightly late at night when the house is quiet. When we cook in our kitchen (where there is no fan vented to the outside), the fan speed will increase and then it is louder - equivalent to a tabletop fan - until it clears the particulates. It has made a big difference in stopping cooking smells from spreading throughout the house!

I just received this bad boy a couple days ago, so I will hopefully remember to give an update in a couple weeks. A few years ago I found out the reason I was getting sick all the time is because I am allergic to dogs and unfortunately have two bulldog fur babies I love very much who shed A LOT and slobber more! My only option after finding out I was allergic to dogs was to hug my dogs, suck it up, and accept a life full of a stuffy nose, watery eyes, and severe sinus congestion. Not sure why it took me 4 years later, but I just recently thought to myself I wonder if an air purifier would help. So I started looking into air purifiers and I researched A TON of them for a few weeks. I didn't want to spend $300 on one, but also wanted one that worked. We have a smaller house, just barely over 1,000 square feet. It is mostly carpeted, besides the kitchen and bathroom, so the pet smell can get bad no matter how many carpet cleanings or how much vacuuming we do. The house is also EXTREMLY dusty. We just had the vents cleaned out and $450 later the dust was still just as bad. I will dust the house and within 2-3 days everything is covered in dust again. When the sun shines in I can see the particles floating around. I was debating between this one and the extra large room Honeywell purifier. It seemed like they were neck and neck for the most part with the reviews and performance, except this one is $70 cheaper. The things that I liked about this one that the Honeywell didn't offer, from what I could tell, was the UV light option and the auto option. Once I turned it on I tested out the auto setting right away. This is a setting that tells the unit to increase the level of "purifying" based on how bad the air quality is. I turned it on and lit a candle, I blew the candle out and set it next to the purifier, this thing instantly kicked into high gear and within a minute had cleaned the air and went back down to level 1. Pretty awesome. I have noticed my air quality is typically around the 13-16 level range for quality and today after I was done getting ready and spraying my crazy curly hair with hair spray I opened up the bathroom door (which is about 10 feet from the purifier currently) and the air quality got worse in the 50s, this little guy recognized it and kicked into level 2 to clean out the air. I am just amazed at how intuitive they can make a product for such an amazing price. I have noticed the musty dog smell is already getting a little better in the house and I am only on day 2. I will say, I have NOT noticed improvement on my allergy symptoms yet, but the purifier is set up in the family room and I just bring it to my bedroom at night. So in it's defense, it isn't working all day in my bedroom. You may think I am crazy being allergic to dogs and letting them sleep in my room inches from my face, but how can you say no to a squishy bulldog face? You can't. The noise level. I am an extremely light sleeper and I have to have white noise in order to sleep at all. I had a REALLY old loud air purifier that I would run just for the noise because I get too cold with a fan. On level one (which so far from the last two days and if it is set on auto the machines runs on that level 98% of the time) you cannot even tell it's on and same for level 2 and level 3 you will start to notice the noise. I actually like that level 5 is kind of loud because it helps me sleep, but to run it in the family room on level 5 don't expect to hear the TV well or have a conversation easily. I also like that there is an option to completely turn off all lights on the machine while it is running to keep the room dark while you sleep. Hope this helps! I will try to remember to review on my allergies once I buy another one just for the bedroom to run all day to make the review fair!

I was skeptical that this would help, but after a few months of my upstairs apartment neighbors smoking so much cannabis that it had sunk into my furniture and clothes even after a wash, and no help from the landlords, I had to try something. Whatever this filter is doing, it's working. I placed it in our kitchen that had reeked of smoke for weeks and it cleared it up almost entirely within 30 minutes. I keep it in the bedroom now, for the most part. The smell wafts down whenever they light up but it's gone almost instantly and doesn't bother me anymore, or keep me awake when I'm trying to sleep. The fan is quiet and makes for soft white noise at any speed below 3. My computer's fan is louder than the 1 setting, but the 4 and 5 settings do make normal conversation a bit hard to hear. You will very rarely need to run it this high. As an added bonus, I have slight asthma and a cat. I don't know if it was the smoke or my cat (or just a placebo effect) but I find I can breathe easier after running the thing for 10 - 15 minutes with the door closed or even slightly ajar. As an aside, I'm not sure if the particulate detector doesn't work well, or if the neighbor's cannabis doesn't kick it up as much as I think it should, but even though it cycles the smell out quickly, the numbers rarely change and it doesn't increase the speed. It's not a problem - again, it does an amazing job of cleaning up the odors even on its lowest setting - but it's something I've noticed.

You may have seen on the news in summer of 2018 about the forest fires along the west coast. That was what we were in for a couple of weeks. We had PM2.5 levels hovering between unhealthy (150-200) and very-unhealthy levels (200+) outside with inside PM2.5 levels around 120 to 140. We have a 2,380 sqft house, 1,400 of that is downstairs. While these are rated for 500sqft, a single unit downstairs was enough to keep our PM2.5 levels down to about 40 or 50 despite the area being 3x larger than recommended. They also worked quickly, with a significant drop of PM2.5 levels within an hour of being turned on. We ended up buying 2 of them (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs). The only negative was one of the units was a bit louder than the other (at all levels). But they were quiet enough for the noise to fade into the background and didn't interrupt our TV viewing or anything else. Once the PM2.5 levels outside dropped to 75'ish, the inside dropped to under 10 and it's remained at or below 5 once the smoke finally cleared out (and the rains returned!). An interesting side-effect is when we cook in the kitchen, the purifier next to the kitchen will quickly clean the air (just bought our house and recently discovered the stove-top vent simply vents back into the kitchen). Very glad we bought them. In reality, it seems the major difference between these types of devices is how quiet and quickly they work, but they should all be using a similar filter which is what actually filters the air. Would definitely recommend, I just hope we don't need them next summer.

Surpasses all expectations. This purifier is so sensitive that on auto mode it will kick in if the fields outside are being sprayed, I shake a bed blanket or even if I’m roasting a chicken for supper (downstairs). Since it’s been in action I haven’t sneezed once in the room so I’m content that it’s doing it’s job.

Item received in time and in good condition. Been using this for a week now. Seem to be doing a good job of filtering the air of dust and fumes.

The Order: Arrived fast and in a more than adequate package. The product was in perfect condition and well protected during transport. The Context: I live just in front of a main highway. My apartment is opened area style. I have no rugs or large carpets. I have no pets. I don't smoke. The product: This little piece of hardware does a fantastic job so far (one month or so). Very responsive to my distasteful cooking! ;-) 1- It is small and yet powerful. 2- A bit noisy at high speed, but not louder than expected. It's a fan after all! 3- It cleans the air fast and then returns to a practically silent state. 4- Very good value for the price. I agree with other reviews saying that this air purifier is not as proficient as a professional, medical grade, model with very high tech filters. It is, however, perfect for my needs. 5- The replacement filters are available here at a reasonable price. 6- It is very easy to replace / insert / remove / clean the filter. 7- I accidently kicked the poor thing twice while moving stuff and it still works fine (yeah, I know, I'm clumsy!).

Bought to deal with the dust generated by my log burner. Good bit of kit. It came with a US plug but the seller soon sent me an adaptor on request.
