Synopsis: Although Belgium’s premiere sleuth Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) plans a spectacular Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer, the trip turns into a terrifying search for a murderer after a picture-perfect couple’s honeymoon is cut tragically short. Set against a sweeping landscape of pyramids and desert vistas, DEATH ON THE NILE features a stunning ensemble cast. Based on Agatha Christie’s beloved novel, this tale of unbridled passion and jealousy is filled with wicked twists and turns that will have you guessing until the shocking finale.

Good movie but slightly worse than Murder on the Orient Express
The media could not be loaded. [SPOILER-FREE REVIEW]I have bought this Blu-Ray due to an upcoming release of the Haunting in Venice, which I'm quite excited about. I had watched the first part (Murder on the Orient Express) and now have given a try to this adaptation of another Agatha Christie's classic. However, I must initially state that the story in the movie is not an exact copy of Christie's plot. There are some changes in comparison to the book so be aware of that. The movie is absolutely stunning, as very picturesque, CGI-enhanced panoramas are shown quite often again, just like in the Murder on The Orient Express. Similarly to the previous movie, this one involves many talented actors & actresses, the cast is definitely the strongest part of the film. While I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, I must say that the previous part felt more interesting, the murder happened quicker in the Murder on the Orient Express (therefore it was more tense) and more importantly it's way easier to guess who the murderer is in Death on the Nile is, after you see the clues shown (I have correctly predicted who the killer is around 30 minutes before end of the movie, in previous part it wasn't obvious at all).

Death on the Nile
Kenneth Branagh directs and stars as 'Hercule Poirot' in a new film version of Agatha Christies 'Death on the Nile', following his previous outing as Poirot in 2017's 'Murder on the Orient Express'.The dvd presents a star studded movie featuring Annette Bening, Gal Gadot ('Wonder woman'), Dawn French ('Vicar of Dibley', 'French & Saunders'), Jennifer Saunders ('French and Saunders', 'Ab Fab'), Russell Brand ('Forgetting Sarah Marshall'), Armie Hamer ('The Social network'), Rose Leslie ('Game of Thrones'), Emma Mackey ('Sex Education'), Sophie Okonedo ('Hotel Rwanda').Death on the Nile follows the story of a murder of a woman on her honeymoon and the assembled suspects all of who have a reason to want her dead. The plot is one of Christies finest and this movie is the latest in a long line of adaptations. The direction and cinematography are both excellent and the performances are good, but overall the movie falls short of the 1978 film version. It is still however a good film that's well worth watching just not a great one. If you haven't seen the 1978 version watch this first not after.A third Branagh Agatha Christie movie is coming soon "A Haunting in Venice' based on the book 'The Halloween party'.

Murder in deepest darkest Eqypt
Another unnecessary remake by Kenneth Branagh as he tackles Death on the Nile. This is the UK DVD (20022) with English, French and Spanish audio along with English, Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish subtitles and no extras whatsoever. Not as enjoyable as Branagh's Murder On the Orient Express and no where near as fun as Peter Ustinov's Death On the Nile or even David Suchet's version, it's a bit dark as Branagh decides to make this personal for Poirot and so the Belgian detective is a bit more moody. There are too many directorial tricks that start to get irritating after a while, but still a solid movie, worth a look. Now that Branagh has got these two films out of the way perhaps we can look forward to more Poirots that have not yet been filmed for the silver screen (i.e not for TV)

Not as good as the others
David Suchet's version is perfect so this adapration is lacking. However, I love Agatha Christie so any adaptation is worth watching.
