The capsules do have an unusual taste, but I just wash it down with water quickly. Also, the bottle says take 2 capsules but just one works great for me, and yeah, if you build up a sweat after taking these, there's definitely a light maple-syrup aroma, but that's no biggie to me. I'll be reordering!
