I've used this for day-long trips, and of course ...
I've used this for day-long trips, and of course, it kept things cold. But I recently got a chance to test it on a camping trip, and it passed with flying colors. Even without filling it completely with ice, it kept things cold my entire four-day trip and still retained ice when I got home. The wheels help tremendously due to the heavy weight, and it's tough enough to drag over jagged rocks. The positive impacts of having the cooler:1) confidence that the ice will last at least 4 days and your food won't spoil2) avoiding the hassle of getting more ice to fill it in the middle of a 4-day trip3) using the four tie-down points with ropes/straps to turn the cooler into a makeshift dolly for heavy items (I've strapped camp chairs and a folding camp table to the top)The negatives:1) Heavy (37 pounds when EMPTY). If you do it alone, you'll need to do a powerlift to put it in the back of the car/truck.2) When making a DIY dolly (see above), the handle doesn't lock in place. It will not move past horizontal, but if the weight of the "dolly" tips past balance point, you can't use the handle as a lever. I had to cut a block of wood on the tablesaw and used it to jam behind the handle, thus creating a removable handle "lock block", where the handle locks in the horizontal position.

I think even better..
Hands down comparable to a yeti... I think even better... best part is the wheels on it so one person can handle it.im a female and i can't handle the 75 qt yeti myself and can't load it for hunting without help.. I could with the pelican... it's a bit bulkier than the 75qt yeti but is bear proof with no locks, we didn't get a ticket when game and fish stopped at camp in Montana to check it out..... I have used yetis in the past to pack for hunting in Montana ... usually the guys come home with thawed out food, ice etc after a 7-10 day trip... of course food is eaten over this time which allows for things to thaw out , understandable... I was able to go with on this trip and decided I needed a second cooler and tried out the pelican... i had a gallon of milk and 1 frozen gallon of water with about10 additional frozen small drinking water bottles in the cooler with a mix of frozen food and cold food packed for 5 people... we were gone for 10 days in Montana and when we got home the water jug had barely thawed.. the water bottles had ice in them still, a few were left.. we had hamburger patties leftover and they still had crystals in the middle, milk had ice crystals in it from it freezing still.. all food was nice and cold... I'm impressed with this cooler ...

The best wheeled cooler
Fantastic cooler. I have been waiting for years for Yeti to make a cooler like this with wheels only to be disappointed year after year. I saw this one a few week ago and purchased it after reading the reviews. This is quite possibly the best cooler in existence. I've used it twice now for outdoor events around my pool. It is in the sun all day, 90-95 degrees down on the Gulf of Mexico this time of year and has performed amazingly. This thing still has ice left in it today (9/8) after an event on 9/3/16 at my house for which I put the ice in the cooler the day prior on 9/2. It will easily handle a week of keeping things ice cold no matter the weather. I could not be happier and my friends with Yeti's they have to lug around are quite envious.

PELICAN FOR LIFE
ACCIDENTAL TEST.... so, I sort of did my own "unplanned" test of the pelican this weekend. I recieved my 45qt Wheeled Pelican on Friday, and was invited to a friend's house to watch College Football on Sat afternoon. Obviously, I wanted to take my new cooler for a test run, and to show it off; and show it off I did. EVERYONE was immediately impressed by it's size, ruggedness, design and overall quality. People were climbing on it, to show the durability, lifting the lid and letting it "slam shut", and continually opting to use the bottle opener on the cooler, just out of sheer enjoyment of using a bottle opener installed on a cooler, as part of the design. I went to the party, with 18 assorted beers (bottle and can), as well as my own aluminum tray, to put some limes and dip, to keep them out of the ice; and dumped a single 10lb bag. The lid on the cooler was lifted at least 25 times, both to get the beer, and at times when I would hear, "Hey! Listen to how this thing closes!!!"... After getting home from a late Sat night/Sun morning, I left the cooler in the back of my truck, thinking, "I'll get that in the morning".............. I completely forgot about it, went on to do some yard work yesterday/Sunday, and around 2pm thought, "I need a cold beer... OH CRAP!!!! I left the cooler in the back of the truck!!"..... To help understand clearly why I thought this was bad, my truckbed (being all black and having a black tonneau cover) gets up to likely around 150-175F, if not more... it was so hot, when I pulled the cooler out of the back of the truck, the handle was hot enough I had to pull my hand back the first time....... yeah - it was that hot - it may as well been an oven. So, I wheeled the cooler to the back yard, and set it on my patio, took a deep breath and opened the lid............. HOLY CRAP!!! There's still ice in there!!!! Was there also water? Yes, about 1-2qts, but there was still at least 2.5-3lbs of ice floating, from what was initially a 10lb bag. I decided to test further, and leave the cooler sitting on the concrete patio, IN THE SUN, for the rest of the day, and overnight. Just went to open the cooler (Monday mid-day) and check if any ice was left (this is 12pm in Florida), and there's STILL ICE. Mind you, after all of that, and opening/closing yesterday, it lost quite a bit, but there's enough ice in there to fill a 32oz Big Gulp cup! While they advertise 10day ice hold (under normal conditions), I'd say my HARSH conditions of heat and use over 2.5 days would be significant. I'm excited to test it "properly", under normal conditions, but had to share my story. I'm sold, and a forever fan of Pelican coolers!!!

Possibly The Most Perfect Cooler Ever Built.
You've probably already read the positives; well built, sturdy, ice retention is top notch, wheels, easy drain plug, feet, handles and a trolley handle, even a bottle opener and cup holders... etc. So let me tell you a few things to be aware of that don't appear in the advertising literature.1. This 80 quart beast is just that...wheels or not, it's a beast. Don't expect to fill it to the brim with beer, drinks and ice and just toss it into the back of your truck.2. The design of the feet underneath is pure genius in that the cooler never rests on the wheels when it is sitting still, which means you can set it in your vehicle or boat without it rolling all over the place. With that said, the feet are set to a height that when you trolley the cooler from one place to another you have to lift it completely off the feet for the wheels to engage. When this happens the drain plug on the other end will occasionally scrape the ground causing scuff marks on the plug if you are pulling the cooler across concrete.3. The last item is the lifetime warranty. You should be aware that this basically covers just the box. That's it. The gasket, the drain plug, the feet, the latches...pretty much any thing that could actually go wrong with this cooler is NOT COVERED.With those things said, this is still BY FAR the best cooler I have ever owned and even though it's a little pricey. It has been well worth the money.
