Red Marine Algae 500 - Gigartina & Dumontacea - 90 VCaps/500mg

The only thing that has helped with cold sores for me. I take 4 every day and never see cold sores if I consistently take this stuff. This is the only brand/ingredient combo that has worked for me. Been taking it for years.

I purchased other brands from various places, but this has been most effective for me and worth the price to avoid the pains of shingles in my eye, and cold sores on the lip.

The product, promptly delivered, has a "use by" date of 9/23 and tastes fresh. So 5 stars on the delivery! Much data is available about Red Algae's potential health benefits, including that in Taoofherbs.com, which alleges that among the ~4000 species of red marine algae only 25 contain a significant amount of sulphated polsaccharides - "the keys to activate the immune response." Of these, Dumontiaceae and Gigartina are "the two most actively potent strains of Red Marine Algae." D&G allegedly help the human immune system control and reduce the herpes virus. Last year, at 4 a day, I took a total of 180 capsules. Then I quit. Maybe they helped. Can't tell. I want to try again. If they help me feel better, a 5th star is in order. So far so good.

Other Types of red marine algae aren't anti-viral. Only Gigartina with Dumontiacaae paralyzes several viral strains by smothering the viruses(amino acid clusters) with white cytotoxic T cells. By highly boosting your immune system. Chemical anti-viral's weaken your immune system. Great alternative to treat HSV types I ,II also Warts(std) and it most likely cripples other viral strains. Oh dont take as instructed to cripple HSV I and II. I discovered taking 2 capsules every 12 hours is is most effective . Basically deactivating these particular viruses. NO MORE OUTBREAKS at all. Tao of Herbs/ Bright Nutrition has absolutely amazing customer service. They were very concerned, so kind & helpful. It was easy to get in touch with them by phone as well. A real person answered too, not a machine! I'm very thankful for the kindness of Bright Nutrition/ Tao of Herbs. I ordered the Red Algae through Amazon. It arrived with no safety seal on the outside or inside. It looked like it once had a seal because cotton fibers were on the rim of bottle. (Also only had only 88 of the 90 pills in bottle.) I called them to ask whether it should have had a seal or not. And they were so kind! They told me that Yes, it should have an outer clear seal as well as another seal inside. Also, they said when it is sent to Amazon, the bottle is wrapped in bubble wrap so it should have been wrapped when I received it. The bottle I received through Amazon had no outer seal, no inner foil & was not wrapped at all. Just sent in a big box with 2 other small items. Bright Nutrition/ Tao of Herbs were very kind, helpful & they apologized. They told me it was probably a return to Amazon that had been put back on Amazon's shelf. I'm sure Amazon wouldn't do anything like that on purpose, so hopefully it was just an honest mistake. They advised me to throw it out. And I did discard it, because I didn't know if it had been altered with before the people returned it to Amazon. It may not have been, but that's a chance I don't want to take.

Not sure how well this supplement helped in overall fight against respiratory virus, but took it along with other supplements to fight off influenza A. Much milder symptoms than the person i caught the virus from. Will take again when a virus attacks.

My verdict is still out on this. For the price, I was hoping for a miracle, but it’s definitly not that. I haven’t noticed any difference with cold sores, but I’m gonna try a little longer given the other positive reviews. Side note, I haven’t been sick in a while but I don’t know if it’s this, the monolaurin, or a combo.
