Expensive but worth it
Expensive but worth it. I got 4 years out of my last one so I just bought the same model again. They come with 3 year warranty I think. Worked very well till the end to dewater my in ground pool cover in Florida. I really liked the sensitivity and design of the float switch and its magnetic contacts. It was easy to clear leaves and pine needles from the impeller area. There was some minor fiberglass flaking near the end but nothing structural. Only reason I had to replace it was a melted capacitor which is proprietary and the average person can't obtain one. I hope I get 4 more years out of this new one.

Powerful Pump - Great for Pool Cover or Flood Use!!
This is the Standard Review for Little Giant APCP-1700 115-Volt, 1/3 HP, 1745 GPH Automatic Condensate Pump. The Little Giant APCP-1700 is a powerful and reliable condensate pump designed for moving large amounts of water efficiently. With a 1/3 HP motor and 1745 GPH pumping capacity, it provides plenty of performance for HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, and other applications where dependable water removal is needed. The pump has a solid, durable construction and feels like it is built for long-term use. The automatic operation is a great feature because it activates when water reaches the proper level and shuts off when the reservoir is emptied, reducing the need for constant monitoring. The design is practical and helps prevent overflow issues in areas where gravity drainage is not possible.

Excellent Product!
I couldnโt be happier with the Little Giant Select Series Automatic Submersible Swimming Pool Cover Pump. This thing has been an absolute workhorse. From the moment I set it on the cover, it was completely hassle-freeโthe automatic on/off feature works flawlessly and takes all the guesswork out of it. No babysitting, no worrying about overflow, it just does its job. What really stands out is how quickly and efficiently it removes water. Even after a heavy rain, it clears the cover much faster than I expected. The build quality is solid and feels like itโs made to last, not like some of the cheaper pumps out there. It also runs surprisingly quiet, which is a nice bonus. Setup was straightforward, and itโs been reliable every time Iโve used it. If youโre tired of dealing with standing water on your pool cover or replacing underpowered pumps, this is absolutely worth the investment. Iโd recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a dependable, high-quality solution.

Long Life
Excellent pump I purchased my Little Giant pump in October 2018. It is still running strong. I have definitely gotten my money's worth.

Prevent Air-Locking
Like others, my pump was constantly getting air-locked. I discovered that you have to carefully route the garden hose. There shouldn't be any "dips" in the hose. My pump was getting air-locked because the hose dipped into a garden box. I re-routed the hose to go around, not inside, the garden box. In other words, the hose should come out of the pool and reach a peak. After the peak, the hose should go constantly downhill to the discharge. You don't want water to get "trapped" in a dip in the hose. In addition, there is a tiny vent hole that should be kept clean. I have a lot of trees and vegetation, so my vent hole was getting clogged with debris. The pump no longer gets air-locked, and it turns on and off reliably. The instructions neglect to say anything about how to properly route the hose. I can't make a definitive judgment about the pump because I have owned it for less than 1 year. The pump seems sturdy, it stayed outside all winter, and it can keep up with heavy rain. The pump also survived on the pool cover during hurricane Sandy in NJ. Little Giant is a well-known maker of quality pumps. The pump is power efficient and only draws 2.2 amps. This is important for an emergency power system that will keep the pump running during hurricanes, outages, etc. Jan. 2016 update: My pump has been working since 2012; it survived hurricane Sandy. I have some more advice. Before the first significant snow/ice/extreme cold, I pull the pump out of the pool. As a result, the pump doesn't spend 1 or 2 months frozen at the bottom of a mountain of snow and ice. This also helps to prevent another problem where the float arm gets stuck in the up position because of ice/cold. This turns the pump on, but it never shuts off, which could cause the pump to burn out. The float arm can also get stuck in the up position when the pump is submerged by very heavy rain. Bumping or jiggling the pump allows the stuck float arm to fall down, thereby shutting off the pump. Amazon notified me that Little Giant had a recall because of the sticking float arm (not caused by ice). They sent me a new pump for free. However, I will continue to use the original pump until it dies. I still get a very infrequent air-lock. I get the impression that an air-lock is most likely when the pump hasn't activated in a long time. You can detect an air-lock because the pump hasn't removed water, the pump is "humming", and the water level on the cover is higher than normal. As the instructions indicate, I leave the pump unplugged from the power for about 10 minutes (longer is better). When I plug it back in, the pump works normally. Do not unplug the pump for just a few seconds because that will not fix the air-lock. In conclusion, I understand that all of these pool cover pumps are problematic. The Little Giant can provide many years of service. You have to "manage" the pump, especially during the winter. Jan. 2017 update: The original pump is still going. March 2021 update: The original pump finally broke. Maybe it can be fixed, but it is not really worth the trouble and the cost of parts when you can just buy a new one. I might take a look when it gets warmer outside. I am very satisfied with the pump.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm. I've used them for years on my pool covers. I also had an exterior stairwell below grade that would occasionally back up with water. I put one of these at the bottom of the stairwell. They only kick on when water reaches a certain level. This was a very inexpensive backup plan to save me from a flooded, fully finished basement. Just attach a small hose for water output, plug in, and you're all set.

Great speed!
Awesome pump; works very quickly and a much-needed replacement for my other one! This one showed me how bad my other one had gotten!

A legitimate workhorseโworth every penny
Iโll be honest, I was pretty hesitant to drop $150+ on this pump. Iโve had bad luck with these in the past and didn't want to get burned again on something that couldn't handle the job. But after putting the Little Giant to work, Iโm glad I bit the bullet. โThis thing is an absolute beast. It moves some serious water, and it does it fast. It has a solid build, and you can really feel the quality in the weight of it. Once you set it down, it stays putโit isn't going anywhere. If youโre tired of wasting money on cheaper units that can't keep up, this is the one to get. Itโs definitely worth the investment.
