Lightweight moisturizer that absorbs easily without feeling greasy. Works well under makeup and doesn’t irritate sensitive skin. No fragrance and very minimal formula, which makes it easy to use daily without issues. Good for everyday wear when you want basic hydration plus SPF in one step.

I’ve only been using this moisturizer with zinc oxide (sun protection) for a couple of weeks, and so far it’s great. Glides on smoothly, unlike thick sunscreens that can get blotchy, and it absorbs quickly. My skin feels very soft and fine lines disappear, so I know the moisturizer is working. I’ve had problems with the drying effects of sunscreen in the past. No discernible scent, which is a plus. It does leave a faint whitish cast that disappears after a minute or two, and my skin tone looks even. The very faint “glow” or hint of zinc oxide reduces some of the redder spots on my sensitive skin, so I am able to use this alone as foundation. Makes it easy to reapply every two hours to continue the sun protection. It’s important to remember that no sunscreen product lasts all day—always follow the directions and reapply to keep sun protection active. I really like the safety rating this cream received from EWG—this is rare for sun protection products. It’s not perfect, but since I have to moisturize and use sunscreen, this product gives me all that without added worry about health and safety concerns. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we haven’t had many full-sun days since I started using it, but so far the sunscreen factor seems to be working. Because this product glides on so easily I am able to avoid areas of missed coverage. I will update this review when I’ve tested it in the summer, but I expect that I’ll need a full sunscreen if I’m spending all day outside. Reading other reviews, I’m concerned to see that people use this as both day and nighttime moisturizer. Zinc oxide is one of the safer sunscreen options, but give your skin and overall health a break by using this only during the day (even on cloudy days). Wash your face in the evening and apply a non-zinc moisturizer overnight. I think Vanicream makes one if you like the way this product feels.

This moisturizer offers good SPF and has a nice texture. It plays well with other products and blends well. It seems to occupy a good middle ground, and is moisturizing but not overly greasy. It sits relatively well under makeup and doesn’t pill the way many other mineral sunscreens do. Most importantly, it is non irritating and well tolerated by my sensitive skin and doesn’t trigger breakouts or irritation. As with any mineral sunscreen, I am sure you may experience some white cast if you have darker skin (I am very pale so I can’t really comment on this, but I bet it compares favorably to many other pure mineral sunscreens). My one gripe is that the green paint on the package will rub off. I believe it must be oil soluble, as I think it is touching the tube after using squalane oil that triggered this. I would avoid getting anything greasy or the moisturizer itself on the tube for this reason, and I would also avoid touching the green part of the tube as much as possible. I would deduct half a star for this, but this didn’t happen until I had almost used a full tube. However, towards the end it was frustrating to have green specks on my hands and have to worry about getting them in the sunscreen and on my face.

My favorite face sunscreen got re-formulated, much to it's detriment. I've been on the hunt for a new winner, so I tried this one. Unfortunately, it's far too greasy for my face, and irritates my eyes (even if I keep it well away from them.) That said, it's fantastic for hands! It provides affordable protection, and moisturizes beautifully. I don't love the smell, but I plan to use this on my hands for the foreseeable future.

Good for very sensitive skin. I'm still searching for my hg tinted mineral sunscreen. Updated review: Upgraded to 5 stars! Since my first time trying this when it first came out, and after much sunscreen trial and error since then, this is still my favorite untinted mineral sunscreen. I've purchased it three times now. I can't tolerate "chemical" SPF. Even a popular Korean 'chemical SPF' product I used gave me irritation, sensitivity, and breakouts on my face, and hives rash on my chest and neck. Not this! This is the mildest and most trusted sunscreen I have. Cast: Yes, this is a white mineral sunscreen and has somewhat moderate cast as one would expect. The cast is not as strong as some. I can't imagine an effective mineral sunscreen having less cast that this without added tint, though. Application: I find this is easy to use. Much easier than other untinted mineral sunscreens. meaning I don't have to rub as hard to get this to fad into my skin. Also I don't find it streaky. Sensitive skin: Yes! I have very very sensitive skin, and this is now my go-to SPF when I have a flare up. If I really need a tinted option, I'll use Aveeno, but this when I just need no frills protection and hydration. Post-Procedure-Yes! When I get laser treatments for rosacea or some other treatment, the doc approved this one, even when the normal instructions are "nothing on your skin today". Effectiveness: Yes! This works. I was inspired to come back and give this updated review after spending time outdoors in the sun yesterday. The next day, I noticed burning, itching, redness and irritation (sunburn) on half of my neck and chest, only on the areas I had missed application with this sunscreen. The areas where I used it were protected. Finish and look: Honestly, when I'm using this, I'm not likely looking in the mirror much. It feels hydrating and comfortable to me. I'd guess that some people might find it heavy. Use: I like to use this to protect my neck and chest, on areas that might come into contact with clothes, or where I don't want to use my most expensive tinted sunscreen, Also great for post-procedure, and inflamed skin. I hope Vanicream will keep making this!!

I have been searching for a good facial sunscreen for a while. This is unfortunately another one for my bin of sunscreen flops. Note that I have very oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin. This product was used for typical daily wear (for me, taking several 10-minute walks in the hot summer sun throughout the day). I don't sweat much, but I am typically quite oily even without moisturizing products. Pros: - Very moisturizing. It would be good for someone with very dry skin. My skin looked exceptionally well hydrated. - Unscented. My skin tends to react poorly to scented products. This had no scent. - Does protect against the sun. With proper application, I have never burned with this product. Cons: - VERY greasy. I applied just enough sunscreen to cover my skin. It felt like I was covered in an oily film. My whole face had a slick sheen to it. It was especially greasy looking in the summer sun. - Does leave a slight white cast. I would say my skin tone is lightly tanned. There was a light but noticeable white film over my whole face, even after rubbing in and drying down for 15 minutes. Would be best for those with fairer skin tones. - Thick formulation. It was difficult to apply in a uniform layer because of how thick the product was. I prefer a more liquidy formulation for even, light coverage. It felt very oily/film-like on my skin even after drying down.

I absolutely love my vanicream moisturizing lotion, daily facial moisturizer and now this if I know I’m going into the sun. It is thicker and whiter than the facial moisturizer. It doesn’t make your skin feel gross and sunscreen try though. It technically is fragrance free but smells a little like sunscreen because of the zinc oxide active ingredient. Easy to dispense with the cap on the bottom, easy to apply and no worry about leaks. Great value for the money.

I’ve been in search for a good 2 in 1 moisturizer + sunscreen for a long time. I’ve tried other brands (Differin & Cetaphil) but they burned my eyes so badly and didn’t have good moisturizing power. Then I came across this! One good thing about this product is that it has mineral sunscreen without white cast. Chemical sunscreens are the culprit to my burning, teary eyes which I cannot stand. This does not burn my eyes at all, although I apply it pretty close to my eyes. Plus, it has amazing ingredients for a moisturizer. Squalane is one of the top ingredients which helps regulate sebum and lock in the moisture. And it’s packed with 5 different kinds of ceramides, which fortifies your skin barrier to keep it strong and healthy. I put it on as the last step of my morning skin care routine, lightly dab extra oil with a Kleenex, then start putting on makeup. It’s a fabulous base for all kinds of foundations; no cakiness, no smudging, just grips the foundation beautifully. The price point is super reasonable, too. This will be my staple from now on.

This works as people described its efficacy. It glides on the face and keeps the face protected. I love it so much. I bought 4 packs. But it's too expensive.

A bit greasy for sure especially under make up, but my super dry and sensitive skin has no trouble with this. My eczema prone son has no trouble either.

So thick and white good moisturising sunscreen for winter months and cold countries, not suitable for daily wear in our tropical country

Took awhile to arrive as coming from US to UK. No big deal. Really enjoying this cream. Wanted an SPF moisturizer for neck with fewer chemicals. Not much needed, spreads well, absorbs well, not greasy. Very happy 👍 Will buy again.
