Don McLean and those good ole boys had it right
A lovely brown sugar and baking spice rye, with enough vanilla not to be cloying and no pickle back

Stunning Rye
To put it simply, this is one of the best rye whiskies I’ve tasted. After concentrating on Scotch for many years I’ve started to branch out into bourbon and American whiskey/mash/rye. This is really nicely balanced, with some definite sweetness (compared to Scotch) and spice on the tongue. Surprisingly, I’ve really enjoyed this neat over ice. It is perfectly balanced to drink straight. It also works really well in an Old Fashioned, and may replace my usual Woodford Reserve for this purpose in the future.

Gorgeous flavour
A really nice rye whisky which has a lovely earthy flavour. A great addition to the drinks cabinet.

Perfect for a mint julep
Boxergrail is a Whisky made mostly from rye and, I think, a small amount of barley. It’s made in small batches only. It is a premium American Whiskey, and when you open the bottle, you can smell the butterscotch. It’s a very pleasant, smooth drink that the makers say tastes of citrus and black tea, giving this whiskey a perfect balance of sweet and spice. I wouldn’t say black tea myself but I’m no expert. I did like the taste, though, and my family agreed. The makers say it can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. My family all drink it on ice, but I use it to make a mint julep with a sugar cube and some mint that I snip from the garden. It’s refreshing to drink it that way, I think, with lots of crushed ice, that’s how I make it. In fact, when the evening came to an end, both my children wanted to take the bottle home, so I’ve kept it here! I love the bottle too, which is a lovely shape to hold and with the rabbit embossed on it, it would make a great gift for a whiskey drinker. I’m not a massive fan of some whiskeys - the family are bigger fans than I am, but I do like it in a cocktail, so there is something here for everyone really. Always drink sensibly. I put the bottle away after I’ve poured.

I Hate Whiskey But I Love This!
I ordered this for my husband, who like a drop of whiskey now and then and is very particular about what he likes. When I described it as a Rye, he screwed his nose up in disgust. Then he tasted it and changed his mind. The flavour is not at all harsh and is very complex but smooth and utterly delicious, I have always hated Whiskey. I don't mind the smell but the taste - ugh! I smelled this and was tempted to give it a go and I have to say, it is absolutely yummy. I'm not over keen on straight spirits but a little sip is fine. I particularly like this in the recipe for a Whiskey Mule from the listing. I like it over lots of ice and I'm afraid to say. I'm hooked. I really love the gorgeous bottle too and it certainly won't end up in the recycling bin. The whole presentation is beautiful. I heartily recommend it.

An excellent Rye Whiskey
As a great fan of American Whiskeys I jumped at the chance to try this award winning small batch Rye and I have to say it didn't disappoint, it's smooth and caramelly with a pleasant light oak and hint of smoke. Despite an impressive 47.5% ABV (90% Proof) it remains remarkably smooth for a Rye, slipping down (all too) easily!I was lucky enough to also taste the same distillery's Hole Heigold Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey at the same time, and head to head I'm going to say that I preferred the bourbon, however that was personal taste and both whiskeys were superb and fully deserving of the awards they've won. I lot will depend on how smooth you like them, the Heigold is particularly smooth whereas this Boxergrail Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey has a little more kick at the back of the mouth. It's also a little cheaper than the bourbon although both are decent value for this quality.

This now has a permanent place in my drinks cabinet
I’m more of a Brandy drinker than of Whiskey but I thought that I’d give this a try to see if I could ‘get on’ with it. My first impression was that it comes very well packaged, the shape of the bottle, the embossed image of the rabbit on the glass and the labelling all ‘scream’ quality.I drink my Brandy neat so I thought that I’d do the same with this. It is really lovely to sip at, it’s nice and smooth which was a surprise given its 47.5% ABV. The aroma is delightful, I found myself just holding my glass near to my nose and just gently breathing-in between sips.Have I been converted to Whiskey, I think not - however, this Rabbit Hole Boxergrail Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey now has a permanent place in my drinks cabinet. Highly recommended.
