Q: How thick is the base?

Without measuring I would estimate no more than one inch. Very solid, heavy, and sturdy.

Q: Is it safe to place this stand on carpet?

We have ours on carpet and have not had any issues.

Q: Can a 65 inch tv fit with out tipping over?

I don’t recall the specs on this in the description but I would not feel comfortable with a 65” on this in my home.
