Converting an outboard to forward steer. This thing went right in, cables went right in, everything working like it should. Can't be any easier than that.

It looks great and works great but I did have to do a little filing on the slot where the cables lock into the box . It wasn’t really a big deal but the control cables would not fit down into the slot until I filed a little bit off of the sides and a little out of the bottom of the slot , otherwise I would have given it 5 stars . Overall , I would buy it again .

Don’t buy this unit!!! Wiring harness needed to be fixed before I could begin the install and the Ignition switch didn’t work at all, ended up using my 20+ year old name brand Yamaha switch that I pulled out of an old boat. Spend the extra money and get the name brand Yamaha 703. Junk

Control box seems to be well built. Very good product for the $$$$

The unit looked good out of the box. Not as beefy as the OEM part but acceptable for the price. Came with all of the parts needed to install. After installing it, the engine started without issue and the shift and throttle were fine. No power to any of the gauges though. I contacted customer support asking for an electrical schematic for the unit so I could compare against what I knew about the older unit. The response from customer service was simply, we don't have a schematic. Everything is quality tested before it leaves the factory. Reinstall it as per instructions. That was it. I purchased a replacement locally and it installed fine and the gauges worked. I believe the start switch was defective but I wasn't troubleshooting any more than I did. Pay a few extra bucks extra and get something better.
