Gorgeous Craftsmanship
I've never had a Nakiri Knife before. I eliminated all my Henckels knives that had black plastic handles. I'm trying to eliminate as much plastic from my kitchen as possible. I chose this gorgeous knife for a few reasons: First was the wooden handle. No more plastic handles for me. Secondly was the shape of the handle. Very ergonomic for my arthritic hands. Third was the beautiful craftsmanship. This is incredibly sharp and makes cutting vegetables so quick and easy. This wasn't inexpensive, but it will last me the rest of my life.

Great Knives
I was turned on to these knives by my wife. Now I need to get a bigger magnetic board to hold our set (as it is not all that we want yet. Very nice price point, excellent quality, easy to care for. Holds an edge very well. Excellent performance, feels good in both my hands and my wifeโs. The first three have held up amazingly well as we have had them for quite some time. We are gradually replacing all of cooking knives. Highly recommended.

Best knives Iโve ever seen.
Iโve been collecting these entire set for my son. Every special occasion heโs gets one. Easily the best knives Iโve ever seen!

Game changer. Just do it!
I cannot believe how bad I needed this knife and I didโt know it. Iโve used it for over and year and it is still as amazing as when I got it. Extremely straight and sharp as youโd expect. Seriously this thing is so much fun to use. It cuts carrots like butter and itโs very satisfying to prep dinner every night. Keep the box for free sharpening in the future. Iโve used this thing almost daily and only once so far did I gently take it to the honing steel and it was like new again. If youโre on the fence about investing in a nice knife, this one will blow you away. My go-to knife for 10+ years has been a Zwilling Santoku and I still love it but wow, the feel and function of this thing is amazing. You will definitly pass this knife on to your kids one day. Mine is still brand new!

Professional Use tested and approved
Excellent knife, razor sharp out of the box. I use it 10 hours a week prepping vegetables in a busy restaurant and its been nothing short of amazing. Durable, doesn't stain and have only needed to sharpen it once in almost a year. Absolutely do recommend for home or professional use

I did not think I needed a dedicated vegetable knife until I bought this.
I previously had a Shun Premier 7" Santoku and a 4" pairing knife and it appeared that some sellers were clearing out some of their Shun Premier line so I expanded. This particular knife I went back and forth on whether I should get it or not. I'm a fairly serious carnivore so the concept of having a dedicated vegetable knife was an uncertainty, especially considering that my Santoku has a nearly flat blade. I decided to bite the bullet when a very low price came by and I am glad I did. This thing is completely worth it because it completely cuts vegetables with one slice rather than leaving a strand hanging if I don't to a very exaggerated forward motion at the end to get a non-flat blade to go through. Shun of course makes very sharp knifes and looks great. I doubt they are the pinnacle of knives, but they work great for me. I have them professionally sharpened once a year regardless of how well I think they are holding up. You can do the one handed tomato slice with this knife when it's sharp.

I think it is a Hattori Hanzล from Kill Bill which is awesome.
This is a unique knife and my wife's favorite new go-to over the santoku ones weve used for years. Got it as a gift for the wife who likes to cook. We pamper these, and keep them on display. Hand wash immedicaly after use, dry, and put back in block. We treat them with extra care. They are great looking and razor sharp. Definatley a step up from henkles and cuisinearts we have at home tossed in a drawer.

Sharp. Just what I needed.
I will confess that this Shun Nakiri Damascus layered Knife was not by any means cheap, but I don't have my own teeth and I needed something SHARP to chop my veggies and other chewy stuff. This knife fits the bill. It will chop leafy lettuce all by itself which is something that no knife I owned could do without sending stuff flying off the cutting board. After using one at my daughters place in SC I had to have one. This knife will, with a cleaver action on a cutting board, finely chop the likes of rogain leaves, kale and spinach and nothing flies about, just gets chopped. Don't even need to hold the leafy stuff you are chopping which for me is a great safety factor. I've heard that the handle is too small. You really don't need to man handle this knife. It's sharp enough to do most anything without a heavy hand. Here it is shown cutting leftover prime rib using only the weight of the knife alone which is a mere 4 ounces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI-nRkb_8RQ Revised and updated because I just bought the Premier Sumo Santoku TDM0743S knife which has a stand. It is prominently displayed on my kitchen bar and it is just as sharp as my Nakiri Shun but is heavier to make use of the weight of the knife itself to aid in cutting. I can shave pork loin to make it tender as a marshmallow for sandwiches (with kraut of course). Love both of these knives. Just make sure you have a good cutting surface. Those complaining about the knife going dull or chipping might be using the counter top for a cutting board. Use a simple plastic mat or an actual maple board.

Shun premier knives are simply my favourite
Love this knife. And all my shun premier knives. Never thought id spend $1000 (cdn) on 3 knives but it is worth it if you chop prep and cook. I have the German henckels and the twin brothers for years and that set is going to my boat. In photo the middle 6โ chefs shun is 5 years old already. Handle gets better looking with age and blade still looks brand new with near daily use. I had to sharpen the henckels lots but these Shun knives very rarely using diamond boards and IMO these shuns are on a completely different level. Plus that Damascus folded steel is intoxicating and a thing of beauty. I do highly recommend this Shun premier line.

Beautiful knife!
Now this is how a knife should be made. It's really hard to beat a hand forged knife made in Japan.
