great insights into the toughtest job you'll ever love
Peace Corps in Panama is a compilation of vignettes from Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. While the depth of the writing varies widely from simple, "I went here, I did this", to well crafted and thoughtful insights into human nature, collectively they offer the reader a an insightful look at life as a volunteer: joys, fears, hopes, frustrations. As an RPCV from Liberia, I was interested in seeing what Volunteers in a Central American county experienced. There were more similarities than differences. At their core, people around the world seek a connection with others in their community and parents want more opportunities for their children than they had.

Viva Panama!
I also was a Peace Corps volunteer in the late 60's. Description of ife in Panama as a volunteer was very accurate and precipitated many great memories. Book as too inexpensive. You could have charged more. .

Excellent history
An excellent history of 50 years of Peace Corps service to Panama through the voices of individual volunteers. Moving, personal accounts of service.

so I especially enjoyed the book
This is a really lovely, inspiring book. It gives you an up-close-and-personal look into the lives of Panamanians. I am leaving in 1 week to serve in Peace Corps Panama, so I especially enjoyed the book, as it got me excited for the adventures that await me! Thank you Meredith for your beautiful book, and all the effort it must have taken to compile the stories! Fabulous work!

The book is setting here on my lamp table
Peace Corps experiences are different, yet there is a universal story. Volunteers from all countries, those that have always wished they would have joined, families of those and those of you that enjoy good writing about people's life experiences, give this book a look.
