It was assembled backwards?
It has a smooth texture while also being fairly easy to hold onto and works pretty well for the price. The latch works well too although there is one problem, it seems to have been assembled backwards. When you hold the comb with the slits outwards to not hit your hands your dealt with having the latch on the part you hold and holding it backwards means the slits hit your hands as you use it.

Get keys than you pay for.
Thing fell apart first day. The pin holding the comb to the handle, with the latch fell out. Which caused my kid to almost cut himself with the tip of the comb.
