Love love love! I do wish the magnets were center to each space, but I'm just happy with the fact it's a magnetic board with magnetic pieces. Very very good quality, good size and doesn't take up much room especially since the pieces are stored inside of it. Feels high quality, great value!!

I love this set. It is well made and very attractive. The slightly magnetic board and pieces keep everything in order but the pieces are still easily moved around the board. My only complaint is that in the booklet that comes with the set, it states that the pawn captures sideways. This is incorrect. A pawn captures diagonally forward. En Passant is the only exception to that, regardless overall this makes the instructions for this piece in the booklet incorrect. This is unfortunate for those new to chess who won't know of this error and therefore will learn incorrectly. I cannot believe they have not fixed this in the booklet by now. Other than that, it's a great set and fun to play on and we love the addition of the checkers. Our grandkids are learning chess but also love checkers, so we have both when they come to stay. Highly recommend but disregard how they say the pawn captures an opponents piece.

This magnetic wooden chess and checkers set is fantastic! The build quality is excellent — very sturdy and well-crafted. I bought this for a gift and was not disappointed at all! It's well made, all wood pieces and they all fit neatly into the case. It's the standard size board and is the perfect gift for someone looking to learn the game of Chess. I was really impressed with the craftsmanship of this. Highly recommended.

Pros: - Pieces and board look attractive. They feel smooth without gaps or seams. - Well crafted. The hinges and clasps are high quality. - The board and pieces are sturdy, durable and arrived without defects. Cons: - The foam indentations meant to hold each piece when in storage are mostly sized correctly, but a few of them are too loose. This results in the pieces coming loose when in storage, and falling out of place when opening the board. - The magnets in my set were not consistently oriented during manufacturing. Many of the pieces have inconsistently oriented magnetic poles, causing them to attract or repel each other unpredictably. When placed on the board, the king in my set always pulls itself slightly off-center no matter what square it's placed on. Cons I don't count against this product: - A problem with magnetic chess sets in general is that when moving a piece across the board, it will inadvertently attract other pieces to itself, disrupting play. I don't count this as a flaw in this product for purposes of this review since this is true of all magnetic sets, but after playing with this set for a while, I recommend weighted pieces instead. - A collapsible wooden set like this risks scratching or gouging a wooden table. You have to first open it upside down, remove the pieces from storage, then flip it. The board has no soft pads to protect the board or the table. I always put a hand towel between this board and my wooden table, which is kind of annoying and detracts from the beauty. Flexible mats or more permanent boards don't have this problem.
