Even with an angle grinder it took me 20 minutes when I lost my key! **Q: how long is the damn usable part of the lock!** A: The total length of the nylon-covered chain plus the velcro strap is almost 47". Allowing for bending the velcro part of the belt back against itself to wear it as a belt, it will fit a 41" - 42" waist. I think that this is a great product, much less cumbersome and clunky than any of the Kryptonite U-locks and easier to wear/carry than a Kryptonite or other chain lock. Because you wear it around your waist, you don't feel the weight. I also bought a Titanker chain which is slightly lighter and usually use both. My guess is that any would-be thief, seeing the two chains, will decide to steal another bike. So far it has worked for me. **Q: What is the overall locking lenght. Is says 18.8 inches, is this correct** A: No, I don't think so. From the padlock metal lock of mine to the end of the chain is 28". **Q: How could this be cut off? Couldnt you just cut the plastic bit connecting the lock or just saw through the vinyl strap holding strap to lock??** A: The plastic buckle allows the lock to be worn whilst riding but is not used to lock the product.
