The bottom line is that this IS an EFFECTIVE product. If you didn't read the label entirely (which is copied online) it is your own fault. The back label is very clear about the mg's per DOSAGE not CAPSULE. Anyone who only reads the front label and disregards the actual dosage data on a bottle is lazy. Additionally it is a really effective alternative to Lipitor and other statins. I began taking it because I was borderline high on my cholesterol. My total cholesterol was 262. My LDL was 162. I took 4 capsules daily - 2 in the morning and two at night. My total cholesterol dropped 12 points in 30 days. THEN, a physician suggested a TRICK that only a physician would know. It seems that for red yeast rice to work effectively - the molecules must bind themselves to a FAT MOLECULE as a transport vehicle through your system. I'm on a low (almost no fat) fat diet and was on the diet for months before trying the product. So he suggested combining my Red yeast Rice dosage with a 2000 mg dosage of Fish Oil which would likely benefit me simply because it is fish oil. The idea here is that fish oil contains beneficial Omega 3 FATTY ACIDS which is a FAT and it would allow the Red Yeast rice a FAT molecule to bind itself too. I tried it and WOW!!! 30 days later my numbers had dropped by an additional 30 points. There are other brands that are equally or more effective. But this one is a good and affordable product.

I suffer from high cholesterol. It doesn’t matter how much I change my diet, it stays in the over 200 range. I tried prescription meds which left me with achy joints to the point where I just couldn’t continue on with them. My doctor recommended this product as an alternative & it works. My cholesterol went from 256 down to 221 in only 3 months.. and no negative side effects. I work in a physical job so being able to stay active while still tackling my cholesterol problem is HUGE win!

I had no idea why my husband was taking this supplement. When he told me I was very surprised. Red Yeast Rice can help lower your cholesterol. I even asked my doctor about it and he said that it's true! That being said, why do doctors go right to the medication to lower your cholesterol? This supplement has got to be safer than any medication and a whole lot cheaper. I will update this review in the future (his next blood work) either way just in case.

I can’t speak to the effectiveness of this product on my cholesterol as I only took it for a month and have not had a blood test since taking it. A few days after starting this product my right ankle started hurting. I have a history of an ankle fracture and have quite a bit of hardware in it. I thought my ankle was acting up, but it kept getting worse and worse. I was close to going to an orthopedist. After 3 weeks my other foot starting hurting severely and I was unable to walk on it. I stopped taking this RYR 48 hours ago and my pain is totally gone. I’m glad I was able to figure it out and hopefully this will help someone out as well if they are experiencing similar symptoms.

I've tried other brands, but this one is the brand that works the best for me.
