Lightning-Fast Precision for Competitive Gaming
Lightning-Fast Precision for Competitive Gaming The Razer Viper 8KHz is one of those mice that makes you immediately notice the difference the first time you plug it in. At just 71 grams, it feels incredibly light in the hand, which is perfect for long gaming sessions where fatigue can creep in. The ambidextrous design is thoughtful—I can comfortably use it in either hand, and the side buttons are well placed without being intrusive. What stands out most is the 8000Hz polling rate. Movements feel unbelievably smooth and responsive, especially in FPS games where quick flicks and micro-adjustments matter. Paired with the 20K DPI sensor, I had no trouble dialing in the sensitivity for both fast-paced shooters and more methodical strategy games. The Razer optical switches are crisp and actuate instantly—no double-click issues so far, and they feel much more reliable than traditional mechanical switches. The Chroma RGB lighting is understated but customizable enough to match the rest of my setup. I also appreciate the drag-free Speedflex cable, which keeps movement fluid without the tugging you sometimes get with other wired mice. One small watchout: to fully benefit from the 8000Hz polling, you’ll need a powerful PC and a high refresh rate monitor; otherwise, the gains won’t be as noticeable. Bottom line: If you’re serious about competitive gaming and want one of the fastest, most precise mice available, the Razer Viper 8KHz delivers in spades. It combines ultra-light comfort, rock-solid build quality, and lightning response times that give you a real edge in fast-paced play.

The best mouse I've ever owned.
So I bought this Razer 8k used/like new, and I didn't know what to expect. I bought and returned multiple different mice before settling on this one, and after a couple of fails, I decided I'd go open box in case of more side buttons being unreachable or ergo shapes being uncomfortable, or whatever and having to return them. Anyway, I got this 8k for about $26. It arrived in resealed original packaging with no accessories or anything, which is fine at half price. It also came smelling like sanitized chemicals, and had tiny tannish food scraps or something in the rubberized side grip. A little rubbing alcohol and it was new again. After cleaning it, I used it for different things including web browsing, Android Studio, Blender, and Fortnite. The buttons have the greatest click I've ever felt, the scroll wheel is large and protrusive and has distinct notches as you roll it, which is made for FPS games like Fortnite, PUBG etc, for precise item selection, but would be annoying for some things which require smoother scrolling. The scroll click is easy and precise. . . the whole thing feels like a whole different level in feel and quality, from other mouse scroll wheels. I use the inside thumb buttons for jump and slide in Fortnite, and I disabled the left hand thumb buttons, which surprisingly, I don't feel, when my third finger rests there. I had to get used to the low profile of the thumb buttons, but once I adjusted to them, they actually work very well. Ergonomically, I prefer a hump towards the rear of the mouse, but my hand adjusted to that too. The 8k feature is wasted on me, because most lower-middle end PCs can't handle 8000 reports per second from the mouse, but the 1k setting is perfect. Everything from the PTFE skates to the Razer Focus+ sensor to the optical v2 switches is premium and frankly amazing for the price (which I paid half of.) Also, other than some of the $150ish Asus ROG mice, the Razer optical switch mice, like the Viper 8k, have hot-swappable switches, so if one of the top switches breaks, it's about $10-15 a pair to replace em and they just clip into place. . . no soldering. So, I really love this mouse, and I can't really recommend anything other than a Razer, after trying different mice. Its just different, unique and better. Apparently, from reviews I've seen, the other Razer mice have a smoother scroll wheel, for a less gamer specific, more universal functionality.

Affordable Wired Mouse
Used this mouse for 4 years now and have not had any issues. Planning on upgrading soon just because I want to try a mouse that isn't wired, but as a wired mouse I have been very pleased with my time using it. If wired mice are your thing and you want something on the more affordable side, I would definitely recommend this product. $40 for an excellent refurbished product is a solid deal.

I like it
Good, albeit with some issues. The cable is very stiff and as a result the kinks from packaging are permanent. The shape is not for me (too long and not high enough of a hump to cup with my hand). But 8KHz polling is amazing and the difference in game was instantly noticeable for me. I immediately noticed how much less effort I had to put into aiming to achieve similar results as my old mouse (albeit the shape is worse). The thumb buttons on the other side of the mouse do not interfere with my grip but I did disable them to prevent any accidental clicks. I also noticed a latency difference with the optical switches over my previous mouse. Click timing became a lot easier. I haven't experienced any issues in any games that I play. The people complaining about issues are probably running underpowered computers with too much bloat running in the background. The Razer software should be installed on another PC or in a burner OS install. It's unbelievably bloated and is borderline malware. The firmware this mouse ships with is extremely buggy and should be updated. It has issues such as having to replug it on every cold boot to get it to work and the LOD adjustment not working. Once updated, these are fixed. I bought and reviewed this as a $40 mouse, which is a good price for this mouse. Anything higher might not be worth it due to the issues I listed.

Amazing gaming mouse, even though 8KHz polling rate is an overkill that probably no one will ever use. Apart from that, it's practically a refined Deathadder with extra buttons and a much better sensor.

The mouse cable seems robust to withstand the wear-and-tear of daily use. The RGB feature is a nice touch.
