It’s lightweight but feels durable, and the craftsmanship stands out. I think it’s a great balance between playful and functional, and it looks just as good on a desk.

This cipher wheel is so cool, such a clever design to encode secret messages that are tucked away inside this well-made cipher wheel. I created a message by using one of the smileys to start my message off as the index with the first letter. Then I wrote turn to the left once to the index smiley face for the first letter. Then turn five times to the left to the index smiley face for the next letter and then turn to the right and so on. The same message can be changed at any time with a different index smiley face. You can also find a word on the wheel simply by placing the first letter on one of the chosen smiley faces and find the word on the wheel and the same word can change its position with the smiley faces anytime you choose. You also can get even more clever and abbreviate a message. You can add, subtract or multiply smileys and letters using this clever smiley cipher to encode your message-like whispers in a dark hall where the wheel turns with satisfying clicking of the wheel. I have something in mind, but I haven’t put it together yet to experience this clever wheel, but I’m so excited to get started. The wheel is made of Baltic Birch Plywood with the bottom wheel made of three thick layers of wood and the middle wood is also made of thick Baltic Birch Plywood that turns with ease left or right and doesn’t get stuck and I’ve been turning this wheel for days now. The wood is smooth on both wheels with no splits and carefully arranged with letters and smileys that are deeply engraved boldly with text and smileys. The wood is so smooth that it doesn’t cramp my hands even after hours of participation and fits comfortably in my hand. With this Cipher wheel playful spirit and its timeless charm, it is a profound lesson and enduring symbol of the human drive to communicate, to conceal, and to reveal, that teaches us to play and think deeply and creatively.

I ordered this to use as part of a task based game. For all intents and purposes, it works. You can make a code and decipher just as advertised. The wheels spin easily enough. My only issues are that the printing is not as defined as on the product page making it a little difficult to read, and the price. It's a bit small and thin to warrant a $23 price tag. I'm glad I have it, but wish it was cheaper.

Really awesome cipher!! My daughter received this as she is very much into ciphers and decoding messages. We send each other “top secret” messages all the time and usually make up our own cipher or use a very stock type we put together with paper and fastener that makes it spin. This wooden one is a lot classier and she feels like a real decoding agent! We bought her two- one that has emoji faces and one with Egyptian symbols which was very neat since we had just studied Egyptian symbols in school!

I got this because it looked cool. It looks as advertised. It looks laser cut. Good quality design. I could see how this could be incorporated in one of those escape games or others.

This is surprisingly well made. It's laser cut cleanly, it's very easy to read, and it all fits together well. It's a little bit bigger than your average drink coaster which feels right for a cipher like this. Seems built to last. This is perfect for an escape room puzzle or for a D&D riddle (which is what I'm going to do with it). Would definitely recommend this.
