The thermos jar appears to be indeed of 304 stainless steel since it didn't develop rust under my six weeks of use. It's double-wall insulated and has a volume of 8 oz. I trust their claim to be BPA free and it has a silicone gasket to seal tightly, so the plastic doesn't even come in contact with the food. Food grade silicone doesn't contain BPA, phthalates, lead or BPS. Many BPA free plastics still contain BPS which is equally toxic for us. Hence I prefer that no plastic at all touches the food. The handle of the lid lies flat to save space and to open the lid, I just lift the handle and push it down to close. I've never had a leak with it for the 6 weeks I had it. I’m a ramen fan and mostly prepare and store organic whole wheat ramen inside my jar. I learned from using it that it keeps soups and similar liquid meals warm or even hot for up to six hours when I follow the instructions and pour in boiling hot water. However, as it is made of steel, I can’t heat up my meals inside the microwave. On the other hand, I can place it inside my dishwasher to clean it.

It stays warm for I would say 5 hours!

I love these for my kids' lunches. They are compact, wide-mouthed, dishwasher safe, and keep the food hot. What more could you ask for? HOWEVER, I bought 3, and the plastic on all 3 lids broke within the first six months of use. I can understand if one did, but 3 for 3 is a design issue.I spent over an hour on Amazon trying to reach out to the seller directly instead of writing a review, but there's not a way to. One my first try with the customer service chat, then link they gave me just sent me to the review page. On my second try, the Amazon customer service agent thought they were giving me a direct email to their sales department, but it ended up being a company in Texas with absolutely no affiliation. Sigh.IF they can fix the problem of the lack of integrity in the plastic, then they are worth purchasing.

I like that it's small and easy for kids to use but I can't see myself spending that kind of money on one again. The one time I used it my son said his food wasn't that warm by the time he got to lunch so unsure of how well it works. The lid also seem tricky to clean there is a silicone seal over the whole lid and I'm scared to pull on it to clean under it cuz I don't know if thats what your supposed to do.

I purchased 2 of them for my daughter. Pink lid was broken after 2 months later. Container was really durable and good. Lid is not durable. Kids can handle really well but easily broken.I want to but only lid. Please let me knwo if it is possible

Liked it while I had it. The lid disintegrated after 5 months of weekly use.

So this item works you must read the simple instructions. Kept my toddlers food warm the whole time she even had some leftover food and when I touched i was surprised it still kept warm. It's an easy open and close handle for them as well. Highly recommend for your child's lunch or however you use it.
