Good piece of kit…with caveats...
I was a little apprehensive about how this would go but I cannot fault this deck so far. We upgraded our sound bar and the new one had a Bluetooth feature. I’ve tried BT turntables before (Audio Technica AT LP-60) but the experience was less than successful. I needed a better quality deck for the living room and thought I’d give this a go.I was very impressed that there was virtually no setup needed. The cartridge and counterweight were already installed and adjusted. It was the Bluetooth connection I was worried about. I turned on the BT transmitter on the deck on and set the input source on my sound bar and in a few seconds “PING” they had found each other and were connected…phew.Sound wise everything is perfect for what I want. I use Ortofon cartridges on my Technics SL-1200’s so I knew all about them. The BT connection fires up every time and there has been no drop-out so far (which was my problem with the Audio Technica). The reason I didn’t give it a 5-star rating is for two reasons. On some older, less than pristine, records there has been some skipping. This’ll be because the arm and counterweight on this turntable are very light compared to my SL-1200’s (nothing skips on them !) but this is something I expected so not a deal breaker for me. Secondly if you plan on playing LP's and singles (33rpm and 45rpm records) the way you change the speed on this deck is a complete pain in the derriere ! You have to remove the turntable and move the drive belt to another position on it's spindle to change the speed. I now only play LP's (33rpm) on this deck as it's just too much hassle changing speeds. All in all a good piece of kit (with those minor caveats) at a decent price that suits what I want.
