Would this help to mask smell of the wood product this is being applied to?

not so much, you would need to wash it first with a mixture of 1 part washing up liquid and 1 part white vinegar and 3 to 4 part water and leave it to do its magic and evaporate, the vinegar smell will leave as it evaporates, then you can seal it with mineral oil or an oil of your choice, some woods like elm or cedar need a few coats to reduce the smell before it is oiled.

How many coats would chopping boards need to protect it?

Just the one will do if spread evenly over the board and left to dry. Then again when washed with soapy water to repeat the protection process.

What do you apply it with - cloth or tissue?

I use a cloth . As tissue would just soak it all up.

Can i use it on my food processor to lubricate working parts

Yes you can. You need to make sure that the viscosity is suitable for the application, mainly speed and load, but if you think it is, there should be no problems. This oil is relatively "thin". It is food contact safe.
